Hello and welcome to the COSMOGRAPHIA TEST DRIVE MEME! This is a place where you can get a feel for your character(s) in the game's setting! A couple quick points before we get down to business:

☆ Please take a look at our Premise, World Information, and our FAQ to get a feel for the rules and setting. This is great if you want to see what the game is about before jumping in!

☆ Test Drive threads are certainly allowed to be used for samples for your application, should you choose to submit one!

SAMPLE SCENARIOS:

A: By whatever means, you've tumbled through a hole into a cavernous temple. Gems suspended in bubbles float about the ceiling, and a large Heartlike gem looms before you. Touching it, whether out of curiosity or frustration, will give you some basic information, but then again, there's no guarantee you're just going to walk up to a giant weird thing in the middle of a giant weird room and touch it, right? Why not take a look around and see for yourself what kind of place this is? Perhaps you'll run into someone in the same predicament as you, or perhaps you'll run into someone who can help explain why there's a weird rock now affixed to your body?

B: It's Thursday in Waverly Bay, and that can mean only one thing: the weekly Farmer's Market is here again! Stalls not only from farmers on the outskirts of town but from crafty residents with interesting homemade items to sell, and businesses looking to attract the Market's crowd are all here! Are you shopping for a good deal on vegetables for dinner? Or perhaps you're getting a feel for the residents, having recently arrived? Or, perhaps, are you an industrious gem who's looking to set up shop? Either way, you're bound to run into somebody in this bustling, busy place.

C: Uh-oh! Looks like you've run into a monster! Apparently, from what little you've heard, you can shapeshift into things and pull a weapon from your gem, and you have some sort of special power, but maybe you don't know what it is yet, or you're still not used to using it? Guess you're going to have to learn on the job. Don't leave your fellow gems hanging if you see them fighting one of these little guys either! You're going to need each other to take 'em down!

Arrival

[Neku knew holes. It was why he was currently a Gargoyle instead of the form the Fog God had cursed him with orginally. But he couldn't resist crawling in another one even though he knew better. Knew the crushing pain and terror that waited for him.

Only that never happened. There's was a weird tingly between his shoulderblades, but nothing else until he reached the other side, spilling out with a snarl. Most people that arrived in the Temple were humans- he was certainly not- his lower body was made up of blue and indigo scales and oversized reptilian legs, a huge tail... and his arms were wyvren wings. Even his head, while mostly human, was adorned with over sized horns.

He spins around, on all fours, tail lashing- waiting for some kind of attack from *somewhere*]

Outside town

[He wasn't in Ryslig anymore. He should be happy.

He doesn't have to eat human flesh, he doesn't have to fear another random strange painful transformation or attack. But he was still a monster... and the people he had formed his little family with either weren't here or... were actually someone else. Neku wasn't exactly the most social to start with- and over a year in that hell made him all the more reclusive. He didn't WANT to make new friends. He wanted HIS family back.

So instead of exploring the town or temple he hid out in a small cliff over hang looking out at sea, often crawling down the side to vanish into small caves or just staring out at the water- until someone stumbled on him]

Ngh... go find somewhere else to be.

[Finding someone else exploring the outskirts was surprising, but even more so was hearing a familiar voice grumpily telling him to get the fuck out.

Unable to help himself, Beat refuses to move and instead places his fists on his waist, standing at the entrance to the cliff, wings outspread a little to block the light.]

No way dude, how am I s'posed to bug you if yer holed up ina cave I di'nt make an' hidin' away??

[Dropping his wings to let light illuminate him, Beat grins and steps in a little more, trying to get a better look at his friend. He sort of sounded like how he sounded during the volcano stuff.]

[The extra light (and the flames dancing around his mouth- he can't breath fire but his guts are more then happy to crackle either way) proves it's exactly who Beat thinks- and is indeed like he was back when the mountain lured them in.

Neku stares at him, still snarling- if anything he looks even MORE pissed off. After Naomi he can't do this. Seeing a different Beat or Joshua or Rhyme might kill him. The Beat he remembers didn't have wings or hooves]

I said back off.

[Sup lizard dude. Have... Uh, other lizard? Tumbling out of the next hole over and looking over at you.]

[It isn't an attack that comes, but a block - a barrier popping in and out of existence to stop his wild tail swings that get far too close to the bubbled gems. Even one has to be stopped before he ends up being given counter damage for striking the Heart.]

Stop before you hurt yourself, or attract one of the others here.

[Naomi's fortunately patient and does not immediately suspect gem monster, but there were others who might.]

You don't want to be bubbled by mistake.

[ This is all still very strange for Fatima. She's used to the garnet around her neck holding all her power and her life force, but now that it's useless, and the garnet embedded in her chest just under her collarbone holds it all instead, it's strange to think that same gem is no longer her source of power. It's not so different, but it's just different enough to make her skin crawl, especially when she tries to use her powers.

Just her luck that a monster appears, followed by another and another. While they aren't the same as the Beast Fiends, thank God, they still look strong enough to serve as a good experiment. If her powers are now weaker, she'll have to make due by regaining her strength the old fashioned way. ]

Don't take me so lightly! [ Fatima summons her whip, and before the monsters can advance any further, she's cracking the icy tongue of the whip into them to snap off legs and strike their faces. It stalls them enough to let her cast a Dark Pierce spell on each one, sending purplish chunks of ice spearing into them. ]

[At least Fatima was far from alone in feeling awkward and unusual about arriving in a world like this one. Though unlike her, Valvatorez never was tied so bluntly to a stone. But even with this change, he was doing his best to quickly adapt, trying to accept that this new addition to his body was like some other organ.

What he was less happy about was the loss of his powers... for the second time. It was bad enough after falling from Tyranthood back to the ground floor, but now after ending up in another world that he had to start over again after all that hard work? To say it was frustrating was an understatement. He was going to need many, many more sardines to catch back up... but in the meantime, he'd opt to test out what his new "power" was capable of. So he went out looking for a fight.

As luck would have it, it wasn't hard to find one... and what looked like a fellow newcomer was facing a bunch of monsters. Well, what better way to start anew than practice and perhaps meet a new comrade?

He hesitantly reached into the shining onyx in his chest to produce a broadsword as black as night. ...It was strange, but it would do the job. They may have robbed him of his Mana powers again, but they couldn't take away over two millennia of swordsmanship from his mind.

He charged at one of the monsters, slashing at it viciously and without mercy. The blade rent the foe asunder, but not without a bit of effort on his part.]

I'll keep them off of you, hit them with everything you've got!

[ Fatima's not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, so as startling as his sudden appearance is, she's grateful for it nonetheless. It never hurts to have an extra sword helping out when you're fighting...whatever these things are. ]

Right!

[ Hit them with everything she has? She can do that. That was the plan all along, and now that he's here, it's a bit easier for sure. She volleys spell after spell after spell of Dark Pierce at them, only stopping when the target creature of the moment drops dead or retreats. ]

[Marinette couldn't explain what drew her to the hole, but there was no denying the sense of comfort being curled up inside it brought. Despite the strange peace that washed over her, it was with a jarring surprise that she was suddenly pulled out of her peaceful little hovel, the sense of peace quickly replaced with the sense of remembering what gravity was.]

Waaaaaauuoomph!

[Ever the ungraceful one out of her suit, she ended up half-upside down, legs sticking up and her top half tangled on the floor. Thank goodness she was wearing pants, or this would be even more embarrassing. She groaned, cursing her luck as she slowly worked to right herself.]

Ow ow ow... ugh, what gives? [Now right side up, she remains sitting on the ground, legs sticking out a bit to the side and hands resting on her knees. She looks around, confusion clear on her face.]

What is this place? Tikki, do you know where we are?

[The lack of response catches Marinette by surprise, attention immediately drawn to her suddenly-empty purse, devoid of her kwami companion.]

[Adjusting to life here in Waverly Bay had been interesting, to say the least. No kwami, no Miraculous, no parents... but it was nice here, and after sorting out the initial shock of what had happened and why she'd woken up with a mysterious rock embedded in her earlobe, Marinette tried to make the best of it. Meet new people, learn about this strange new world, and try to adapt to life as a... living gem. She was still wrapping her head around that one.]

[Currently, Marinette was thrumming with glee as she made her way through the Farmer's Market. So many things to see, wares to browse through, and smells to enjoy. Clutched in her hands were a couple rolls of colorful, soft fabric that she'd purchased off of one of the vendors, and already the creative juices were flowing with ideas on what to make with her new find. She's so distracted with her good mood and thought process that she might not notice if she bumped into someone.]

A - So, they become a Toyger if they fuse, right?

[Here he was coming back for a nap only to find himself pausing outside of his room. If he had his cat ears right now, they would've surely twitched at that yell. That sounded like it had come from the Heart Room, and he was curious enough to go see who it might be. Something about the voice had run familiar as it was anyway.]

[He could hear them - her - talking to herself as he got closer, realizing who it had to be just before the door opened. He knew that voice of course, and he approached quietly from behind, holding out a hand to help her stand.]

Are you alright, Marinette? The fall supposedly get everyone.

[Marinette couldn't help the undignified yelp that escaped her, instinctively closing her hands roughly over her purse to snap it shut. Never mind that Tikki wasn't there anymore, but old habits die hard.]

[She looks up at whoever surprised her, and was stunned to see shockingly familiar green eyes and a well-known halo of beautiful blonde hair. She gasped, tongue tying in her mouth.]

A-A-A-Adrien! Ah, w-what are you doing here? Not that it's bad that you're here, I mean, you being around is never bad... I mean! Here! You're here! Ah, obviously you're here! But, uhm... w-where are we?

[...all things considered, that could have gone worse.]

[Malachite knows she's somewhere else as soon as consciousness returns. The smell of the sea is gone, the continuous feel of the ocean tides gone, leaving her feeling unsteady as she carefully rises to all fours, fingers splayed against the ground as if to help hold her in place. Perspective is ... different, and the proximity of bubbled gems and their size tells her she's much, much smaller than she's used to.

Instead of immediately looking for an exit, the green and white fusion begins a careful examination of herself, running her fingers across the gem-shard nose in the middle of her face, then twisting so one leg-arm can likewise brush across the gem between her upper shoulder blades.

Checking for damage. Cracks, chips. She knows what bubbling is, what it's for, and why she might be there - had she been broken? Corrupted?

...No. Only once she's assured of her own current physical state does she even begin to look around, seeking an exit instead of explanations. Out. She needed out.]

[Outside has been achieved! And the disorienting change of perspective is immediate and apparent now. Malachite was used to being several stories tall, now she guessed her height at most might match Jasper's, perhaps a little taller. It means she can pick her way through Waverly Bay's market crowd without worrying about squashing the fleshlings and assorted other .. gems? Gems, like they belonged here, living with these meatsacks!

And somehow, the centauroid fusion isn't any stranger than many other things these people have seen, by the general lack of reaction. That's almost a relief. But the presence of produce, grown locally or otherwise, does bring something else to mind. The crisp taste of tribute by a cowering island tribe, now just a sweet memory on the back of her tongue.]

[It's the first time she's speaking up in public, accosting the first person who looks reasonably intelligent AND likely to answer her instead of panic, run away or attack. You'll do. Yes, you.]

Which of these ... shops ... carries watermelon?

[ Compared to a lot of gems here, Remilia kind of stands out with her batlike wings, pale skin and crimson eyes. Other than that, though, she's fairly normal in size... Well, she'd like to be taller than five feet, but still.

And she's slightly annoyed. ]

You're ruder than the shrine maiden back home. Haven't you heard of manners?

[Normal size means small. Small and insignificant and not even remotely a threat at first assessment, the gem noted at her collar and giving a small +1 to her benefit.

Not a meat sack, surely (boy are all these hybrids going to be a shock). Though those wings were strange, was this Bloodstone or Heliotrope corrupted? For a long, long moment the considerably larger gem stares down at Remilia, all four eyes unblinking, mulling this shrine maiden nonsense and ultimately dismissing it.]

When you outrank me, I'll be polite. Answer the question or get out of my way.

Ha...? [The strange white humanoid points to himself. He has a carton of fresh eggs that he's been snacking on as he walks around, completely oblivious to (or not giving a shit about) the strange looks he gets when he eats them, shell and all] How the heck should I know? Do I look like I eat plants?

[Well. This certainly is all interesting. Alice can't say she's used to the whole setup yet, but it doesn't seem like she can do anything to get back, so...

The Market is bustling, but Alice's primary interest isn't in fruits and vegetables. She's searching the stalls, passing over the ordinary produce ones until she finds-]

How charming... I don't know anything about local fashion yet, but these are all adorable. But maybe I should ask someone who's been here longer...

[Alice had already been able to pull a weapon out formed from her soul, so it would be surprising if her gem weapon was anything besides a dagger.

That said, it was no Darkness Hermit, incapable of pinning down a monster's shadow. It was only a regular knife, and Alice wasn't the strongest when it came to fair fighting.]

This wasn't the first time Ayumi had been separated from her fairies, but it was the first time she had gone to another world without them knowing where she went. But with so many weird things happening in the world, a hole that looked like her was something to be said.

Twirling a long blonde braid nervously, she stepped out into the open chamber and let out a noise. "Aaah, sparkly! Look at all the gemstones!"

Examining the heart, she touched it, and a flood of information poured into her mind. She blinked, stepping back but not losing her balance as she touched it again. "A heart crystal, and gems?"

Touching her chest where the bow lay, she could feel a distinct hardness nestled in the center of her chest. "How strange..." Looking over, she waved at the nearest person. "Hello, yes, can I ask a couple of questions the heart didn't answer?"

Ayumi had de-transformed, back to her normal self. Her weapon had turned out to be her Cure Decor, and she was holding it in her hands. Right now though, she was smelling the scent of sweet buns from the stand she was standing in front of. "Excuse me, how much are these?" she asked curiously.

Well, she kind of just run into a girl with bat wings, fangs and red inhuman eyes. But she seems friendly enough, despite her looks.

"Hmm...? I'm listening."

Huh? Let me see... Oh, uh, wait, you were probably talking to the actual person selling them. Uh. Sorry. Don't mind me.

[The girl in the -- is that a cape, the rest of the outfit looks normal but why is she wearing a cape -- shuffles her feet and looks away. The actual stall attendant gives their answer, and the new girl's stomach growls.]

...guess I should have eaten before I came here.

Wildcard

[Shiro had been here for awhile now, and while at first he had been frantic to get BACK to the others, eventually some of the people here had sat him down and explained how the weird time stuff worked. While he was here Shigure, Kana and his friends were safe. Or as safe as they were when he last remembered, which wasn't very safe at all. But at least they weren't about to die while he was away.

So he settled in to help as best he could. He would get stronger while he was here, and take that strength back with him. It was win/win in his book. He had figured out how to summon his weapon- a naginata, which made him both amused and a little worried. It wasn't a sword like the Raijinto, but he had to admit the polearm was what his heart expressed, instead of the fate he was born into. So he'd take it.

That goal in mind, he could often be found training out by the beach, his weapon slicing through the air and spinning around his arms and waist- occasionally the blade would graze the sand and with the smallest of flames turn it into cracked and sparkling glass- but he hadn't quite figured out how to do that on command yet.

When he sees someone approach he calls out, waving his arm and gesturing them over]

Hey! Come to take me on?

[How can you say no to that face? He's so eager]

Unfortunately, I think I'll have to pass. I'd be no match for you.

[To show what she means, she withdraws her weapon from her gem - a dagger. Compared to a naginata, she'd be at a significant disadvantage in terms of both reach and power.]

[Ahh, the beach. Home away from home! Or would be if she had a home to begin with, but she certainly did spend a lot of time there, and with someone new - to her at least - turning up and occasionally melting her sand, she's taken to simply observing from a safe and interested distance.

Of course she's interested, he seems actually capable of fighting. A little bit of fire too. A ruby? Carnelian?

Unfortunately for Shiro, the thing he waves over isn't even remotely human. Hopefully he's not too alarmed by that, or by her size, easily around eight feet or taller. Maybe he'll be a little less eager for such a monstrous opponent.]

You might be better off fighting other humans.
