TEST DRIVE MEME
Hello and welcome to the COSMOGRAPHIA TEST DRIVE MEME! This is a place where you can get a feel for your character(s) in the game's setting! A couple quick points before we get down to business:
☆ Please take a look at our Premise, World Information, and our FAQ to get a feel for the rules and setting. This is great if you want to see what the game is about before jumping in!
☆ Test Drive threads are certainly allowed to be used for samples for your application, should you choose to submit one!
SAMPLE SCENARIOS:
A: By whatever means, you've tumbled through a hole into a cavernous temple. Gems suspended in bubbles float about the ceiling, and a large Heartlike gem looms before you. Touching it, whether out of curiosity or frustration, will give you some basic information, but then again, there's no guarantee you're just going to walk up to a giant weird thing in the middle of a giant weird room and touch it, right? Why not take a look around and see for yourself what kind of place this is? Perhaps you'll run into someone in the same predicament as you, or perhaps you'll run into someone who can help explain why there's a weird rock now affixed to your body?
B: It's Thursday in Waverly Bay, and that can mean only one thing: the weekly Farmer's Market is here again! Stalls not only from farmers on the outskirts of town but from crafty residents with interesting homemade items to sell, and businesses looking to attract the Market's crowd are all here! Are you shopping for a good deal on vegetables for dinner? Or perhaps you're getting a feel for the residents, having recently arrived? Or, perhaps, are you an industrious gem who's looking to set up shop? Either way, you're bound to run into somebody in this bustling, busy place.
C: Uh-oh! Looks like you've run into a monster! Apparently, from what little you've heard, you can shapeshift into things and pull a weapon from your gem, and you have some sort of special power, but maybe you don't know what it is yet, or you're still not used to using it? Guess you're going to have to learn on the job. Don't leave your fellow gems hanging if you see them fighting one of these little guys either! You're going to need each other to take 'em down!

Well, besides me preferring you don't call me meat, why are you looking for fruit?
no subject
[But it didn't answer her other questions. OR her desire for a watermelon that can fight back.]
no subject
So you just got here. Has anyone told you where you are yet?
no subject
[She crosses her arms over her chest, expression dark. It's as if the cantaloupes were somehow deeply personally offensive to the centauroid gem.]
No. I saw the signs but your languages are awkward to read.
[With four eyes anyway, it was easier with two.]
no subject
Oh, well. You're in Waverly Bay, a Beach town. One of many recruited by the heart gem in the temple for....some reason.
no subject
[The look Connie's given suggests either the human girl has suddenly sprouted an extra head, or the idea was simply crazy. Either way.
But Connie did seem to be trying to be helpful, and Malachite grudgingly could acknowledge that deserved at least some measure of tolerance.]
Mm. Well. Is there a way to get it to send me back before someone decides to try to add me to that collection of captives?
no subject
No. We never get sent back voluntarily. We have some mission as gems to fulfill.
no subject
Maybe she could just swim back to her island.]
What sort of missions? They're not against Homew--
[She cuts herself off midsentence, all four eyes swiveling to focus back on Connie directly. Did she say 'we' and 'as gems'? Carefully, one green finger rises, and points.]
What do you mean by 'we'. You're human.
no subject
[Connie said this rather crisply too, more than a little aware that this was a homeworld gem she was talking to.]
You know, you should be more observant. Other gems look human too, it doesn't mean they are.
[Connie pulled down the sleeve of her shirt, revaling Miss Agate on her right shoulder].
When I say we I mean WE.
no subject
[She gestures angrily to passing people, all of which look PERFECTLY ORDINARY. For humans. If any one of them was a gem, or a gem hybrid, there's no way to tell just by looking from here.
But there is that agate, and she knows what Agates are supposed to be. She reaches for Connie abruptly, but it doesn't seem to be an attack; if she actually catches hold of the girl, she's just going to carefully turn that arm to see the gem a little better, with all the delicacy of someone handling a raw egg. She won't touch the gem itself though, even if she does catch hold. Humans are fragile, and she's not going to break one even if it's claiming to really be a gem.
If she doesn't catch Connie, she's not going to try twice.]
You don't look like an Agate. Where are your markings? Why are you so small?
no subject
[Ok, getting picked up! Connie is trying not to freak out].
Its more accurate to say we're hybrids. I can make myself taller through shapeshifting, but I still do normally look like this.
no subject
[Nobody else seemed to be more than human. She's still being careful. It seemed to her that Connie was made of meat and not just an unusually colored Agate, much like she first thought, and humans would break if she wasn't very mindful. After a moment or two she sets Connie back where she'd been before.
Malachite didn't like the sound of 'hybrids'. How a gem could breed with a human she didn't even want to know.]
Were you grown this way? Why is someone creating ... hybrids?
no subject
[She shook her head. Wow, she wished her answer didn't automatically fall down to: ask the heart].
No, I was brought there this way. Everyone seems to describe going through some kind of hole to get here, and they're just...gems.
no subject
So far she can, Connie seems willing to at least try to explain what she understands, which Malachite could appreciate. Even if it left her unsure of how to categorize a human with a gem. Her gaze shifts across the afternoon scattering of people. Any of them could be a hybrid?]
And everyone brought, even ones like you, are stuck here working towards some unknown goal? Is it a Diamond doing this?
[Wait, no, if it were a Diamond, Connie wouldn't have what seemed to be distaste for Homeworld. She rakes a hand through her fluffy white hair, frowning.]
If this is still Earth I can probably get back to my island alright and skip all this nonsense.
[A pause. Connie had been helpful. An enemy wouldn't be helpful, she wasn't at war with humanity.]
... You can come if you want.
no subject
We don't know if it's still Darth. There's a lot we have to find out still.
Oh, well, thanks! I actually do have another spot farther in though. My own sort of placeapart from the temple I made myself.
no subject
Who is this gem? 'Darth'?
[Step 2: find the person who's 'forgotten' everything. Although it didn't really matter that Connie preferred staying, the fact that she did was a little .. puzzling, apparently.]
Why would you want to stay in the same place, probably with the same gems who've trapped you here and enslaved you?
LOL i think i meant to say something else but i was drowsy with "darth"
Because I need to know WHY. We're all here, and we need to know how this all happened and what the end goal is.
My dreams of a Vader gem have been crushed. CRUSHED.
Then again it might have been one of those slips of the tongue that could be very revealing later. If she ever catches wind of a Darth..
It takes a moment, but eventually almost grudgingly she speaks again.]
I can make a guess or two as to what might have happened given the state of the ...temple. Perhaps if there's only hybrids here, there's been no gems to even tell some basic history. Can you tell me the general thrust of these 'missions' and what is captured, gained or destroyed during them?
[There is the sense this isn't exactly something she WANTS to do, but it seemed appropriate. Connie had assisted, she should in return. No debts.]
The funny thing is in another ganeCobnie DOES know Vader
After these missions, we tend to gain more gem based powers.
Clearly he's at fault for all of this even in another game.
That's a surprise. Peridot had reported most or all of them defunct or destroyed.
[Not a bad thing though, warps made travel a lot easier. Did any go offworld?
She'd have to check.
There's a visible pause at the mention of gaining 'more' gem based powers. She knew she was lacking the vast bulk of her own. Was there a way of getting them back??]
...Gaining powers. Does this also potentially return ones that are missing?
Re: Clearly he's at fault for all of this even in another game.
Yes, actually. Amethyst could tell you all about that#
no subject
There's a pause when Amethyst is mentioned, and then one hand is held out, low to the ground.]
A little one like this, or one more my size?
