Hello and welcome to the COSMOGRAPHIA TEST DRIVE MEME! This is a place where you can get a feel for your character(s) in the game's setting! A couple quick points before we get down to business:

SAMPLE SCENARIOS:

A: By whatever means, you've tumbled through a hole into a cavernous temple. Gems suspended in bubbles float about the ceiling, and a large Heartlike gem looms before you. Touching it, whether out of curiosity or frustration, will give you some basic information, but then again, there's no guarantee you're just going to walk up to a giant weird thing in the middle of a giant weird room and touch it, right? Why not take a look around and see for yourself what kind of place this is? Perhaps you'll run into someone in the same predicament as you, or perhaps you'll run into someone who can help explain why there's a weird rock now affixed to your body?

B: It's Thursday in Waverly Bay, and that can mean only one thing: the weekly Farmer's Market is here again! Stalls not only from farmers on the outskirts of town but from crafty residents with interesting homemade items to sell, and businesses looking to attract the Market's crowd are all here! Are you shopping for a good deal on vegetables for dinner? Or perhaps you're getting a feel for the residents, having recently arrived? Or, perhaps, are you an industrious gem who's looking to set up shop? Either way, you're bound to run into somebody in this bustling, busy place.

C: Uh-oh! Looks like you've run into a monster! Apparently, from what little you've heard, you can shapeshift into things and pull a weapon from your gem, and you have some sort of special power, but maybe you don't know what it is yet, or you're still not used to using it? Guess you're going to have to learn on the job. Don't leave your fellow gems hanging if you see them fighting one of these little guys either! You're going to need each other to take 'em down!

Who is this gem? 'Darth'?

[Step 2: find the person who's 'forgotten' everything. Although it didn't really matter that Connie preferred staying, the fact that she did was a little .. puzzling, apparently.]

Why would you want to stay in the same place, probably with the same gems who've trapped you here and enslaved you?

Because I need to know WHY. We're all here, and we need to know how this all happened and what the end goal is.

My dreams of a Vader gem have been crushed. CRUSHED.

I can make a guess or two as to what might have happened given the state of the ...temple. Perhaps if there's only hybrids here, there's been no gems to even tell some basic history. Can you tell me the general thrust of these 'missions' and what is captured, gained or destroyed during them?

[There is the sense this isn't exactly something she WANTS to do, but it seemed appropriate. Connie had assisted, she should in return. No debts.]

Well, usually missions are for taking out gem monsters to work for certain goals, like preserving the gem garden or saving a Griffin or helping Tiger's Eye. We recently found out we had operatinal Warp pads.

After these missions, we tend to gain more gem based powers.

Clearly he's at fault for all of this even in another game.

[It didn't ..SOUND ... like anything that was particularly important, just generic world maintenance. 'Tiger's Eye' was a new name, and is filed away neatly alongside Darth just in case.]

That's a surprise. Peridot had reported most or all of them defunct or destroyed.

[Not a bad thing though, warps made travel a lot easier. Did any go offworld?

She'd have to check.

There's a visible pause at the mention of gaining 'more' gem based powers. She knew she was lacking the vast bulk of her own. Was there a way of getting them back??]

...Gaining powers. Does this also potentially return ones that are missing?

Peridot was here for a little while, but I haven't seen her in a not. She might have been sent back.

[Sent back, or gone home? If Homeworld was on its way to collect its cluster, things were going to get interesting very soon.

There's a pause when Amethyst is mentioned, and then one hand is held out, low to the ground.]

[There is a small strangled noise from Malachite, raising one hand to scrub her face as if this will somehow HELP. It doesn't.]

I presume this is the small, strangely organic Rose Quartz 'Steven' and not some ordinary human.

No, Steven gem Quartz, my boyfriend! He's a helpful, great person.

Unfortunately. Garnet, Pearl and Mrs. Universe left awhile ago.

[Which left Peridot the only gem who also wasn't a traitor, and she wasn't here either.

So much for finding out without experiencing it first hand.]

I see. It won't be the first time I've had to learn by doing.

[She sets her hands on her hips, frowning.]

And it probably won't be the last either. I have a request.

Once Rose-- 'Steven' finds out I'm here she's likely to attempt to contact me. I'm not sure I won't kill her if she does.

[Oh boy that's blunt. And Malachite's getting Steven's sex wrong. Who ever heard of males anyway? But the matter-of-fact way she says it also suggests she's not going to go looking for Steven to kill.]

You'd probably like to avoid that, so Steven not finding out for as long as possible is a very good idea.

[It should feel like the fusion's leveling a lethal threat, but somehow Malachite makes it sound like something she'd prefer to avoid.]

I hope you control yourself. If you try to hurt Steven, I can tell you right now you'll be dealing with others. I'll be on the top of that list.

[All four eyes shift to simply stare at Connie for a long unblinking, unmoving moment.]

Do any of you ever think before simply reacting? If I wanted to hunt her down and kill her, I wouldn't be telling you about it first.

I could say the same to you. I just told you that HE was my boyfriend, and you brought up possibly killing him. That puts a damper on our friendship, don't you think?

Would you prefer it if I didn't say anything, you told Steven I was here, and have it end badly without you knowing it would?

Can you at least tell me why you want to hurt him to begin with?

It's complicated.

[It's REALLY complicated. So much so that she was quite literally of two opinions on the matter and that alone made her very uncomfortable.

But Connie might be more cooperative with more understanding. Maybe.]

Very paraphrased, there's quite a lot of painful things in the lives of the gems I used to be that can be laid directly at the feet of Steven and the Crystal Gems.

I talked to Steven after he met someone called Jasper who had given him a black eye and hurt and imprisoned his friends. If that person was "injured" as a result, I'd say they got what they had coming.

As for Steven, he would hurt a fly. I know that for sure.

[How much did she owe this small human, exactly? She'd been helpful with information, but did that mean Malachite owed her information in return?]

And how would you justify thousands of years of imprisonment and enslavement as a tool for simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time?
