TEST DRIVE MEME
Hello and welcome to the COSMOGRAPHIA TEST DRIVE MEME! This is a place where you can get a feel for your character(s) in the game's setting! A couple quick points before we get down to business:
☆ Please take a look at our Premise, World Information, and our FAQ to get a feel for the rules and setting. This is great if you want to see what the game is about before jumping in!
☆ Test Drive threads are certainly allowed to be used for samples for your application, should you choose to submit one!
SAMPLE SCENARIOS:
A: By whatever means, you've tumbled through a hole into a cavernous temple. Gems suspended in bubbles float about the ceiling, and a large Heartlike gem looms before you. Touching it, whether out of curiosity or frustration, will give you some basic information, but then again, there's no guarantee you're just going to walk up to a giant weird thing in the middle of a giant weird room and touch it, right? Why not take a look around and see for yourself what kind of place this is? Perhaps you'll run into someone in the same predicament as you, or perhaps you'll run into someone who can help explain why there's a weird rock now affixed to your body?
B: It's Thursday in Waverly Bay, and that can mean only one thing: the weekly Farmer's Market is here again! Stalls not only from farmers on the outskirts of town but from crafty residents with interesting homemade items to sell, and businesses looking to attract the Market's crowd are all here! Are you shopping for a good deal on vegetables for dinner? Or perhaps you're getting a feel for the residents, having recently arrived? Or, perhaps, are you an industrious gem who's looking to set up shop? Either way, you're bound to run into somebody in this bustling, busy place.
C: Uh-oh! Looks like you've run into a monster! Apparently, from what little you've heard, you can shapeshift into things and pull a weapon from your gem, and you have some sort of special power, but maybe you don't know what it is yet, or you're still not used to using it? Guess you're going to have to learn on the job. Don't leave your fellow gems hanging if you see them fighting one of these little guys either! You're going to need each other to take 'em down!

Come on four eyes! If I can make friends with Jasper AND Peridot I can make friends with you!!
[This is how she makes friends?]
no subject
The second whip is grabbed much the same way the first had, allowed to wrap around an arm instead of the rest of her person. At least having six arms was useful, she still had four free. Well two, she needed the other ones to stand on. And for a precious, precious moment there is a pause. She didn't recall Jasper interacting with this gem much at all!]
Not breaking you on the spot is not friendship! You were irrelevant to the mission at hand!
no subject
[ Guess what Not-so-Jolly Green? Two whips means two waves of energy she can send racing towards you!]
There was a Jasper here before you! You from another universe and she was WAY tougher!
no subject
By the time the surge of purple energy arrives, Malachite's untangled herself enough to leap free, the resultant explosion not exactly pleasant but enough to push her further away and out of easy reach of the whips. She's not going to stay at range long.]
Why would I care about some other Jasper? Are you that upset about being a runt amethyst that you think everyone else shares your insecurity?
[The flat way it's said suggests that she really doesn't have any hangups at all about that. There's plenty of Jaspers out there, it's part of gem life. And she ... wasn't Jasper anymore. She rubs her wrist, frowning.]
Pathetic. Is this really the best you can do? Try to delay me and chain me up long enough for your friends to show up and finish what you can't?
[Come on. Take the bait.]
no subject
[ Bringing the whips back to her she pouts at the taunting ]
I don't WANT to finish you. I want to make you chill out and realize stuff is different here.
[ Wait...Amethyst looks surprised, an idea just struck her and she is unsure if it'll work but...]
So that's what I want. What is it you want really? Huh? Rose Quartz? She ain't here. Wanna go back to Homeworld? That's not here either.
So what's left?
no subject
[Since she's you know, standing right here and none of that ever happened. Other Jaspers were very much not her Jasper, else they wouldn't BE other Jaspers. Apparently a touch of crazy went in when a gem is overcooked, or being a renegade meant common sense went right out the window.
Alternate realities don't even begin to get into the picture for Malachite. Who is patiently working her way closer. If she can get her hands on that runt again..]
What I want is my freedom.
[It's an absolutely venomous HISS, and comes with an angry slashing gesture from one hand.]
Rose Quartz isn't my business, she's harmless now anyway, and Homeworld would just unfuse me!
[She was still loyal though. Faithful to a fault. She just wasn't going home, or taking up Jasper's mission without further specific directions from On High about that. There were other priorities.
And she's still creeping. Careful, Amethyst. But maybe her open hostility .. or maybe passion ... or deep seated terror masquerading as rage is distracting enough..]
I want to live, with nothing and nobody chaining me down and keeping me prisoner ever again! NOTHING IS DIFFERENT HERE!!
no subject
Wait don't you want to be unfused? You seemed pretty ticked off last time we saw you...well OK LAST time I saw you you did unfuse. But whatever.
[ Taking a few steps out of the way so she can see the door Amethyst was trying to get them through.]
Things are different here...but you're still trapped. We all are and the only way of getting out is to do what we're here to do. But go ahead and try if you want. See how far you can run before you wind up back here at the temple.
no subject
[Didn't Amethyst already know how fusion worked? Real fusion, not the broken half-and-half of fighting over the same body? Alexandrite seemed stable enough, but maybe she hadn't been. Maybe the little overbaked gem really had no idea what it should be like.
She'll extend that tiny bit of a doubt. Even traitors should understand fusion isn't about fighting for control against yourself.]
... Last time you encountered me, I wasn't ... myself yet. They were still fighting each other more than fighting you, if they hadn't been I'd be picking your gems out of my teeth. But now I am here, and I don't ever want to be separated. That other one. The Sapphire-Ruby. She'll know what I mean if you need a better explanation, go bother her.
[Maybe a better example would be Sugilite than Garnet alone, but it's the only tenuous offering Malachite will make.
Somehow, somehow Lapis and Jasper came to terms. Enough where they preferred each other over anyone else. Creepy. The rest, about being trapped and unable to leave whether she wanted to or not is noted with a sudden hot surge of fury, but that one she can test just fine on her own.]
no subject
On the other hand it doesn't sound like this was the most healthy realization of affection if you could call it that.]
Yeah, Garnet's not here so basically you're stuck with me and all the human gems.
So wait...does this mean that Jasper and Lapis like...love each other?
[ She sounds really unsure that she wants to know the answer.]
no subject
I understand how it works perfectly well, you're stuck with me.
[Human gems does not compute and is immediately dismissed save for the little niggling thought that maybe Rose Quartz now qualified, being tiny, squishy, and human.
A little closer and she'd be within striking range. A little further after that and there would be nothing between her and the wide blue sky. This thought is derailed by the utter ridiculousness of the very IDEA of love between either of her components.
Malachite is not a union built on love. Or even affection.]
Don't be stupid, of course not. You don't have to love someone to work with them.
[Permanently.]
no subject
Well...that's...special.
[She's almost positive Garnet would not approve.]
Well whatever, Garnet couldn't unfuse in this world even if she wanted to so you probably can't either. If that's even still a thing...man I dunno it's not like I knew that many perma fusions on Earth. Why do I have to have all the answers?
[She was mostly ranting to herself at this point.]
So are you gonna go out the door or what? Because Imma be real with you? I don't really wanna smack you around anymore. Kinda feels pointless.
no subject
[She certainly still could, she just didn't want to. Eventually she might come across someone strong enough to poof even her, and when they reformed they'd have to fuse again..
No. She'd just have to be better, tougher. That wasn't an option.]
You weren't smacking me around to begin with, don't try to oversell yourself. [This comes with a curled lip and bared teeth, contempt bubbling up ever so briefly.] That was a playfight by quartz standards.
[All really good fights, the ones worth having, inevitably involved things on fire and there wasn't a single fire going. If Amethyst ever gave up on being a revolutionary, maybe she could teach her what it really meant to be a quartz-type. And how much fun a good fight really could be.
Malachite was a little disappointed that things hadn't escalated that far, but she couldn't quite bring herself to deliberately attack even a traitor when they're not being openly hostile.]
I am going to leave when I wish to, and I am going to go home when I do.
[In other words she's being mulish simply because Amethyst suggested she go out the door. Contrariness just to be contrary. What a peach this fusion is.]
no subject
Blah blah blah, I'll leave when I wish. I'm Malichite I'm all cranky and don't wanna admit I was losing.
no subject
She's not going to aim any punches at the shapeshifted gem. She's just going to grimly work on literally ripping her apart if she can catch hold with vicious deliberation, one limb at a time. She didn't need special powers to be dangerous, and someone needed to learn that lesson.]
no subject
[Malachite could move a lot faster then Amethyst gave her credit for. Suddenly she was on her back getting pummeled so hard she actually shifted back to her regular form. Unfortunately that gave her two less arms to block with.]
Let's see how you like this!
[ Rolling into another spin dash directly underneath Malachite and bouncing back and forth furiously between the ground and her gut, with the force of a furry cannonball.]
no subject
no subject
Ugh get your fat butt off me!
[ Her gem glows once more and she starts to grow shifting into her more muscular purple puma form to try and get some leverage.]
no subject
She does not. It was an absurd urge to begin with.
The shapeshifting is unexpected though, and the fusion actually recoils as if Amethyst had suddenly sprouted spikes, startled. Sure, gems could shapeshift but she never had and to her recollection neither had either of her components.. or anyone they'd been actively fighting. In fact she couldn't recall the last time she'd seen anyone do it at all.]
What do you think you're going to accomplish with a pelt??
[Dat be manly bodyhair, Malachite.]
no subject
Gonna teach you how to put on a show!!!
