TEST DRIVE MEME

Hello and welcome to the COSMOGRAPHIA TEST DRIVE MEME! This is a place where you can get a feel for your character(s) in the game's setting! A couple quick points before we get down to business:

☆ Please take a look at our Premise, World Information, and our FAQ to get a feel for the rules and setting. This is great if you want to see what the game is about before jumping in!

☆ Test Drive threads are certainly allowed to be used for samples for your application, should you choose to submit one!

SAMPLE SCENARIOS:

A: By whatever means, you've tumbled through a hole into a cavernous temple. Gems suspended in bubbles float about the ceiling, and a large Heartlike gem looms before you. Touching it, whether out of curiosity or frustration, will give you some basic information, but then again, there's no guarantee you're just going to walk up to a giant weird thing in the middle of a giant weird room and touch it, right? Why not take a look around and see for yourself what kind of place this is? Perhaps you'll run into someone in the same predicament as you, or perhaps you'll run into someone who can help explain why there's a weird rock now affixed to your body?

B: It's Thursday in Waverly Bay, and that can mean only one thing: the weekly Farmer's Market is here again! Stalls not only from farmers on the outskirts of town but from crafty residents with interesting homemade items to sell, and businesses looking to attract the Market's crowd are all here! Are you shopping for a good deal on vegetables for dinner? Or perhaps you're getting a feel for the residents, having recently arrived? Or, perhaps, are you an industrious gem who's looking to set up shop? Either way, you're bound to run into somebody in this bustling, busy place.

C: Uh-oh! Looks like you've run into a monster! Apparently, from what little you've heard, you can shapeshift into things and pull a weapon from your gem, and you have some sort of special power, but maybe you don't know what it is yet, or you're still not used to using it? Guess you're going to have to learn on the job. Don't leave your fellow gems hanging if you see them fighting one of these little guys either! You're going to need each other to take 'em down!

Wildcard

[Shiro had been here for awhile now, and while at first he had been frantic to get BACK to the others, eventually some of the people here had sat him down and explained how the weird time stuff worked. While he was here Shigure, Kana and his friends were safe. Or as safe as they were when he last remembered, which wasn't very safe at all. But at least they weren't about to die while he was away.

So he settled in to help as best he could. He would get stronger while he was here, and take that strength back with him. It was win/win in his book. He had figured out how to summon his weapon- a naginata, which made him both amused and a little worried. It wasn't a sword like the Raijinto, but he had to admit the polearm was what his heart expressed, instead of the fate he was born into. So he'd take it.

That goal in mind, he could often be found training out by the beach, his weapon slicing through the air and spinning around his arms and waist- occasionally the blade would graze the sand and with the smallest of flames turn it into cracked and sparkling glass- but he hadn't quite figured out how to do that on command yet.

When he sees someone approach he calls out, waving his arm and gesturing them over]

Hey! Come to take me on?

[How can you say no to that face? He's so eager]

Unfortunately, I think I'll have to pass. I'd be no match for you.

[To show what she means, she withdraws her weapon from her gem - a dagger. Compared to a naginata, she'd be at a significant disadvantage in terms of both reach and power.]

[personal profile] whitedawn 2016-08-02 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, isn't that the point- you gotta practice to get any better with it.

[He frowns]

Daggers are great ranged weapons if you know how to use them.
darknesshermit: (SWEATDROP / uh well)

[personal profile] darknesshermit 2016-08-02 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not unskilled with them [her Darkness Hermit was similar] but tactically disarming myself of my only dagger seems like a bad plan.

[personal profile] whitedawn 2016-08-02 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
You can't respawn them?

[He poofs his naginata, then resummons it again from his wrist- it does take a moment, but to be fair his weapon is longcat long.]
darknesshermit: (CONSIDERING /)

[personal profile] darknesshermit 2016-08-02 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[She frowns, and tosses her dagger into the sand, where it sits for a bit.]

Apparently not.
whitedawn: (8)

[personal profile] whitedawn 2016-08-02 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe you gotta break it first?
darknesshermit: (ANNOYANCE / seriously)

[personal profile] darknesshermit 2016-08-02 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
And live with a broken dagger if I can't un-break it?
whitedawn: (10)

[personal profile] whitedawn 2016-08-02 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
No, no I've seen other people do this. It's fine.

[AND YEAH HE'S ABOUT TO STOMP THAT POOR DAGGER WHO DID NOTHING WRONG]
darknesshermit: (ACTION /)

[personal profile] darknesshermit 2016-08-02 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[RIP ALICE'S DAGGER

but okay no panic is apparently a good enough motivator to figure out how things work, and the knife disappears before he can step on it.]
whitedawn: (7)

[personal profile] whitedawn 2016-08-02 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha, I knew it!

[He's so proud of himself]
darknesshermit: (STARING /)

[personal profile] darknesshermit 2016-08-02 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
...You're very lucky that worked, you know.
whitedawn: (1)

[personal profile] whitedawn 2016-08-02 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, you know, if it broke for real it'd probably be fine if we just poofed you. Like resetting a bone!
darknesshermit: (WORRIED /)

[personal profile] darknesshermit 2016-08-02 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I think I'd rather not risk grievous bodily harm if it's the same to you.
whitedawn: (12)

[personal profile] whitedawn 2016-08-02 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Since it worked that doesn't matter anyways, right?
darknesshermit: (SWEATDROP / uh well)

[personal profile] darknesshermit 2016-08-06 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I suppose not...

[Shiro is even further down on her trust list than everyone else.]

[Ahh, the beach. Home away from home! Or would be if she had a home to begin with, but she certainly did spend a lot of time there, and with someone new - to her at least - turning up and occasionally melting her sand, she's taken to simply observing from a safe and interested distance.

Of course she's interested, he seems actually capable of fighting. A little bit of fire too. A ruby? Carnelian?

Unfortunately for Shiro, the thing he waves over isn't even remotely human. Hopefully he's not too alarmed by that, or by her size, easily around eight feet or taller. Maybe he'll be a little less eager for such a monstrous opponent.]

You might be better off fighting other humans.
whitedawn: (10)

[personal profile] whitedawn 2016-08-07 07:30 am (UTC)(link)
[Hilariously his reaction is the reverse- his eyes sparkle with eagerness]

No way, I'm training to fight gems, so I gotta train on gems!

[He's never seen a real fusion before, but he's HEARD of them at least. All the better!]
nomorechains: (11)

[personal profile] nomorechains 2016-08-07 11:42 am (UTC)(link)
Your enthusiasm is refreshing.

[The rest didn't seem to want to fight ... well anybody!

.. Maybe he really was a ruby. She'll have to find his gem later and see for herself.]

Do you have preferences on rules, or shall we just go ahead and try to kill each other?

[Malachite knew the place of rules at least! Eyes are not to be gouged out, anything torn off is to be handed back later, and so on ... how did that work with humans? Could you even take a limb off and hand it back later or would they just poof on the spot? Well. One way to find out.

She reaches back as if for something invisible sheathed at her back, drawing a double-bladed axe well suited to her size from nowhere a moment later. He'll know the trick, he just did it himself not so long ago.]
