TEST DRIVE MEME
Hello and welcome to the COSMOGRAPHIA TEST DRIVE MEME! This is a place where you can get a feel for your character(s) in the game's setting! A couple quick points before we get down to business:
☆ Please take a look at our Premise, World Information, and our FAQ to get a feel for the rules and setting. This is great if you want to see what the game is about before jumping in!
☆ Test Drive threads are certainly allowed to be used for samples for your application, should you choose to submit one!
SAMPLE SCENARIOS:
A: By whatever means, you've tumbled through a hole into a cavernous temple. Gems suspended in bubbles float about the ceiling, and a large Heartlike gem looms before you. Touching it, whether out of curiosity or frustration, will give you some basic information, but then again, there's no guarantee you're just going to walk up to a giant weird thing in the middle of a giant weird room and touch it, right? Why not take a look around and see for yourself what kind of place this is? Perhaps you'll run into someone in the same predicament as you, or perhaps you'll run into someone who can help explain why there's a weird rock now affixed to your body?
B: It's Thursday in Waverly Bay, and that can mean only one thing: the weekly Farmer's Market is here again! Stalls not only from farmers on the outskirts of town but from crafty residents with interesting homemade items to sell, and businesses looking to attract the Market's crowd are all here! Are you shopping for a good deal on vegetables for dinner? Or perhaps you're getting a feel for the residents, having recently arrived? Or, perhaps, are you an industrious gem who's looking to set up shop? Either way, you're bound to run into somebody in this bustling, busy place.
C: Uh-oh! Looks like you've run into a monster! Apparently, from what little you've heard, you can shapeshift into things and pull a weapon from your gem, and you have some sort of special power, but maybe you don't know what it is yet, or you're still not used to using it? Guess you're going to have to learn on the job. Don't leave your fellow gems hanging if you see them fighting one of these little guys either! You're going to need each other to take 'em down!

But when Beat claps his sorta-shoulder his claws click on something hard that isn't scale]
Hell if I know- this place is... really different. The humans here aren't even SCARED of the... gems?
no subject
The hell even is these? I uh... I touched the heart stone thing inside [Even without the sign saying touch it, he would have. Press the red button and all.] an' I kinda get it but...
[But it's Beat.]
no subject
[He turns around, holding his wings open. Right between his shoulderblades nestles a stone, but it's clear that's not what Beat clicked- the opal cracks spread from the stone to his scales, more focused on one wing but also lacing the other wing and down his back.
They matched the scars he had carried back from the Pit, the heavier veins on the wing that had been shattered. Even though the wounds had been on his Manticore form apparently they carried over]
You got one too, right?
no subject
[The pattern is familiar enough to Beat he recognizes it immediately and he frowns. Scars were shitty that way. His own carried over as well, but at least with his red skin, it was difficult to immediately see.]
Yeah yo...
[He turns and brushes the hair away from his neck. At the base of his skull, slightly hidden in the blonde hair, there's a small red stone, that blends well with his skin. It's only visible when the light of the cave bounces off it.]
no subject
Wish mine hid that well. Wait-
[That neck tattoo is new-! Only he also recognizes it]
...I did this?
no subject
Yeah yo. 'Vinced you to tat me up!
[Tilts his head to let Neku see his own handiwork]
Yer pansy ass wouldn't get one too tho. Loser.
no subject
no subject
[He feels so much better being in a strange place with his friend by his side.]
no subject
[He walks past Beat, standing out in the opening and enjoying the sun]
... damn I'm so glad the stone thing didn't carry over.
no subject
[Beat follows to shove his way in beside Neku. Giant lizard butt.]
You di'nt keep anythin' comin' over? No fire or nothin'?
no subject
Well, I can still fly. Which you know, I shouldn't be able to do without-
[He wiggles his fingers- indicating magic, god powers, gems hijinks, UG soul power. Everything, anything]
-I'm too heavy even with my wings being this big. But it still works. Everything else is gone.
no subject
[Which he does now, reaching to his neck to scratch at it lightly. He had rocks in his skin before, picking at them became habit. Watching Neku's fingers wiggle is amusing. It doesn't look quite right.]
Maybe summa it sticks. But I ain't got fire, or my possessin' peeps thing. 'Least I ain't hungry fer blood or nothin'. Or human. Could go fer a burger tho.
no subject
no subject
[With a grin, Beat launches himself off the edge of the cave entrance, quickly spreading his wings to beat powerfully at the air to gain altitude.]
You the one that taught me, bro!
no subject
[He winces a little at the name, suddenly missing his friend. Not that he missed a lot of the things Joshau DID, but he was beyond denying that he was his friend regardless]
no subject
Nah dude, he jus' sat an' watched me makea fool outta myself. Durin' winter too so jus' 'magine how that went.
no subject
[Joshua approaches from the side of where they are now - from behind either of them, he would have been seen, and he does like the element of surprise - with ears perked and alert. He's spent his time post-arrival looking around a bit, taking in what he could while trying to process the sudden shift in nearly everything both environmentally and personally. Most notably of all, the stone attached to his skin just between his collarbones, which he's tried to remove, to no avail.
He'd thought it had been another trick by the Fog God, but the more time he's spent, the more he's beginning to think they may just have been ejected somehow.
Beat looks the same as he'd... mm. Glancing back at Neku, however, indicates that either he'd undergone further changes before disappearing, or he's from a time point further back.]
No more fur? What a shame. It looked good on you.
no subject
[He turns and looks at Beat, a clear 'Did you know about this?!' look on his face.]
Did you show up together?!
[If they did and Beat just forgot to tell him he was going to bite his tail off]
no subject
No yo! I di'nt know he showed up too!
[He moves to land again at the cave entrance before turning to Josh, looking him over.]
no subject
I arrived separately. Before the two of you did, it seems. It's an interesting place, but it doesn't seem to be Ryslig.
[He no longer has his key card or his device, which is one strong indication. Beat's once-over gets one in return, though particularly more scrutinizing. He... looks healthy, at least.]
no subject
...we kinda figured out I might be from 'earlier' or something. So... lizard. And yeah, this place is FAR from Ryslig.
no subject
He catches the manticores eye and shrugs with a little half grin. They'll talk later.]
Yeah, Phones' is from when the mountain all ate us an' spat us out. [A pause and he glances at Neku again.] Dude didchu go into the hole an' come out here or didchu go into another hole?!
no subject
Ah. You must have been expecting me to still be a Shade, then.
[He pushes some hair from his face, but without human ears there to hold it, it doesn't do much. Still habit. He'll have to invest in some new barrettes.]
no subject
no subject
[He rubs the back of his neck - and the stone - awkwardly.]
... Somethin' like that. Maybe.
[He turns his eyes back to Josh, looking for the torture marks. Is he from before that? After? Snorts.]
No wonder he got pissy at me, I was a wolf then.
[He can't stop himself, he lifts a hand and drops it onto Josh's head and ruffles his hair, tail swaying.]
