TEST DRIVE MEME
Hello and welcome to the COSMOGRAPHIA TEST DRIVE MEME! This is a place where you can get a feel for your character(s) in the game's setting! A couple quick points before we get down to business:
☆ Please take a look at our Premise, World Information, and our FAQ to get a feel for the rules and setting. This is great if you want to see what the game is about before jumping in!
☆ Test Drive threads are certainly allowed to be used for samples for your application, should you choose to submit one!
SAMPLE SCENARIOS:
A: By whatever means, you've tumbled through a hole into a cavernous temple. Gems suspended in bubbles float about the ceiling, and a large Heartlike gem looms before you. Touching it, whether out of curiosity or frustration, will give you some basic information, but then again, there's no guarantee you're just going to walk up to a giant weird thing in the middle of a giant weird room and touch it, right? Why not take a look around and see for yourself what kind of place this is? Perhaps you'll run into someone in the same predicament as you, or perhaps you'll run into someone who can help explain why there's a weird rock now affixed to your body?
B: It's Thursday in Waverly Bay, and that can mean only one thing: the weekly Farmer's Market is here again! Stalls not only from farmers on the outskirts of town but from crafty residents with interesting homemade items to sell, and businesses looking to attract the Market's crowd are all here! Are you shopping for a good deal on vegetables for dinner? Or perhaps you're getting a feel for the residents, having recently arrived? Or, perhaps, are you an industrious gem who's looking to set up shop? Either way, you're bound to run into somebody in this bustling, busy place.
C: Uh-oh! Looks like you've run into a monster! Apparently, from what little you've heard, you can shapeshift into things and pull a weapon from your gem, and you have some sort of special power, but maybe you don't know what it is yet, or you're still not used to using it? Guess you're going to have to learn on the job. Don't leave your fellow gems hanging if you see them fighting one of these little guys either! You're going to need each other to take 'em down!

Uh...yeah you know? Like when a Gem is damaged and tries to reform but can't?
Wait haven't you heard of them before?
no subject
I've seen damaged gems. None of them qualified as 'monsters'.
[The sorts of things that happen on Earth? Nope. Never once. She's as close to a horrible monstrous abomination as anything she'd ever seen. Maybe she should puncture a bubble and find out for herself.
Maybe she should get out while she can.]
These look whole, they're not fusion experiments.
no subject
[Aw that's not fair. Peridot learned her mistakes...more or less.]
Anyway listen we can deal with that in a minute. That big gem there? That's the Crystal heart! If you touch it, it'll give you the basics and we can...go from there I guess.
We're on the same team now green bean.
no subject
[As the crystal heart is pointed out, guess what Malachite is never going to touch, ever, specifically because she was told to touch it.
Yeah that's right. And that line of thought is probably easy to tell by the way she stiffens a little, giving said crystalline heart a glare that could strip paint of a battleship at a hundred yards. Maybe it's a BAD idea to let her near that thing.]
I think not. Stay out of my way and you won't become one of these 'damaged gems', got it?
[Same team as a bunch of traitors? No way.]
no subject
Alright first off? I could kick your butt all around this temple right now. If you're like the rest of us when we all arrived here you lost a lot of power.
[ The real question is, which powers DOES she still have?]
And secondly, if you don't wanna learn what's going on fine, the exit's that way. But don't go starting fights or imma thump you.
no subject
You think you have what it takes? It didn't go so well for last gems who thought they could hold me down, and there's only one of you. I won't be pushed around by you traitorous wretches or anyone else!
no subject
Oh right I forgot you don't know. There's way more then just me!
There's a ton of gems here now. Like thirty at least. They used to be humans or robots or, I think one was a strawberry...anyway they're gems now with all kinds of powers and abilities.
And they don't like bullies. So, let's make nice huh?
[Amethyst you are almost literally bullying her.]
no subject
[There's no mistaking that Malachite's mood is rapidly sliding towards 'this is going to end badly for something or someone soon'.]
There's nobody here at all except me ... and you ... and if they don't like bullies, I guess you and they aren't friends.
[She's still approaching. And if Amethyst stays where she is, she's only going to STOP when they're literally within inches of each other. Amethyst does have her own powers, but since when did the threat of force ever stop ANY of Malachite's components, nevermind their fusion?]
So you better start thinking things through really, really fast if you're counting on backup. And if you and the rest of your treacherous brood are smart, you'll all stay out of my way.
[Threat for threat. A threat that distorts, tone shifting, briefly and disorientingly echoed, but it fades fast to the same crisp, angry contralto she used before.]
no subject
Oh I wasn't counting on it. I was just hoping you'd be reasonable. But now? Now I'm hoping you do something stupid so I have a reason to knock some sense into you.
[ Curse these stubby legs. She can't loom really so she just squares her shoulders and jabs a finger at Malachite.]
So here's the plan. Either you chill out and talk, you hit the exit because you're a wuss, or you try your luck and get smacked down.
no subject
When Malachite glances towards the most obvious exit, brow furrowing, it might seem like she's considering leaving. She isn't. She's just making sure there isn't going to suddenly be Alexandrite issues.
And then without replying she makes a snatch at the far smaller gem with four hands, rocking back on her hindmost set to do it; if she catches hold she's not going to hold on long, fully intending on hurling Amethyst directly at those bubbled gems scattered everywhere.]
no subject
Whaaaaa!!! Whoa!
[ Seeing the bubbles in her path she flashes for a moment back to the last time she threw a tantrum and accidentally set free some monsters. It had been a big mess and Steven and her friends had to help her clean it up. She wasn't going through that again. She flexed to increase her weight sharply.
Suddenly dropping out of the air like she was made of lead Amethyst smashed to the ground leaving a small crater in the stone floor.]
Alright you asked for it!
[ Decreasing her gravitation pull to normal once more Amethyst produced her whip and flicked it in Malachites path trying to catch her rather then hurt her.]
no subject
Which means keeping things purely physical. Physical she could do. She moves just enough to prevent a complete snare by the whip, wrapping around an arm instead of her entire upper body, braces against the ground, and pulls. It was disappointing that she hadn't succeeded in smashing the little amethyst through all those horrible little prisons, but maybe she could get a second shot at it.]
no subject
no subject
What she IS trying to do is swing her weight onto her hind set of hands again and use two extra hands to grab the whip and swing Amethyst around while she's a blurring ball of speed like her own personal mallet on a rope. Momentum. Something about momentum. Jasper knew how this would work.
...She is not going to ask for help. Not even from them.]
no subject
[ Swinging around wildly like a flail was getting dizzying even for Amethyst and she kept coming too close to the bubbles! Time to increase her own gravity again and come smashing to the ground unrolling herself.]
Oh hey! More gems!
[ There were no gems but she was hoping for a distraction so she could jerk the whip and send a wave of purple explosive energy racing along it towards Malichite.]
no subject
That's interesting. She's going to have to see if it happens a third time. Once means nothing, two could be a coincidence, but three.. ..Amethysts didn't have that sort of power.
It's hard to tell if it's this thought or the caroling of 'More gems' is what distracts Malachite, but one way or another she doesn't have the whip off in time to avoid the flash of energy.
Downside: the force is enough to knock even the multilimbed fusion right off all four hands and send her skidding along the ground in a tangle of limbs and hair and fury.
Upside: that whip's still wrapped around her arm. If she's going for a ride, so is Amethyst!]
no subject
[ She's yanked clean off her feet again and swung through the air as the two go crashing across the stone floor. At least closer to the exit. Dazed from the tumble Amethyst hits the ground rolling again and starts rolling towards the door trying to drag Mal behind her while she's off balance.]
Let's get you outside where we can REALLY have fun!
no subject
And then she braces herself against the floor as best she can, digs her fingers in, and leans back, hauling on that whip as hard as she can, sharp teeth bared. Moving her is no small task when it's just force against force, and slowly she grinds to a stop.
Outside, eh. Where Alexandrite would have more room to fight?]
no subject
Come on four eyes! If I can make friends with Jasper AND Peridot I can make friends with you!!
[This is how she makes friends?]
no subject
The second whip is grabbed much the same way the first had, allowed to wrap around an arm instead of the rest of her person. At least having six arms was useful, she still had four free. Well two, she needed the other ones to stand on. And for a precious, precious moment there is a pause. She didn't recall Jasper interacting with this gem much at all!]
Not breaking you on the spot is not friendship! You were irrelevant to the mission at hand!
no subject
[ Guess what Not-so-Jolly Green? Two whips means two waves of energy she can send racing towards you!]
There was a Jasper here before you! You from another universe and she was WAY tougher!
no subject
By the time the surge of purple energy arrives, Malachite's untangled herself enough to leap free, the resultant explosion not exactly pleasant but enough to push her further away and out of easy reach of the whips. She's not going to stay at range long.]
Why would I care about some other Jasper? Are you that upset about being a runt amethyst that you think everyone else shares your insecurity?
[The flat way it's said suggests that she really doesn't have any hangups at all about that. There's plenty of Jaspers out there, it's part of gem life. And she ... wasn't Jasper anymore. She rubs her wrist, frowning.]
Pathetic. Is this really the best you can do? Try to delay me and chain me up long enough for your friends to show up and finish what you can't?
[Come on. Take the bait.]
no subject
[ Bringing the whips back to her she pouts at the taunting ]
I don't WANT to finish you. I want to make you chill out and realize stuff is different here.
[ Wait...Amethyst looks surprised, an idea just struck her and she is unsure if it'll work but...]
So that's what I want. What is it you want really? Huh? Rose Quartz? She ain't here. Wanna go back to Homeworld? That's not here either.
So what's left?
no subject
[Since she's you know, standing right here and none of that ever happened. Other Jaspers were very much not her Jasper, else they wouldn't BE other Jaspers. Apparently a touch of crazy went in when a gem is overcooked, or being a renegade meant common sense went right out the window.
Alternate realities don't even begin to get into the picture for Malachite. Who is patiently working her way closer. If she can get her hands on that runt again..]
What I want is my freedom.
[It's an absolutely venomous HISS, and comes with an angry slashing gesture from one hand.]
Rose Quartz isn't my business, she's harmless now anyway, and Homeworld would just unfuse me!
[She was still loyal though. Faithful to a fault. She just wasn't going home, or taking up Jasper's mission without further specific directions from On High about that. There were other priorities.
And she's still creeping. Careful, Amethyst. But maybe her open hostility .. or maybe passion ... or deep seated terror masquerading as rage is distracting enough..]
I want to live, with nothing and nobody chaining me down and keeping me prisoner ever again! NOTHING IS DIFFERENT HERE!!
no subject
Wait don't you want to be unfused? You seemed pretty ticked off last time we saw you...well OK LAST time I saw you you did unfuse. But whatever.
[ Taking a few steps out of the way so she can see the door Amethyst was trying to get them through.]
Things are different here...but you're still trapped. We all are and the only way of getting out is to do what we're here to do. But go ahead and try if you want. See how far you can run before you wind up back here at the temple.
