Hello and welcome to the COSMOGRAPHIA TEST DRIVE MEME! This is a place where you can get a feel for your character(s) in the game's setting! A couple quick points before we get down to business:

☆ Please take a look at our Premise, World Information, and our FAQ to get a feel for the rules and setting. This is great if you want to see what the game is about before jumping in!

☆ Test Drive threads are certainly allowed to be used for samples for your application, should you choose to submit one!

SAMPLE SCENARIOS:

A: By whatever means, you've tumbled through a hole into a cavernous temple. Gems suspended in bubbles float about the ceiling, and a large Heartlike gem looms before you. Touching it, whether out of curiosity or frustration, will give you some basic information, but then again, there's no guarantee you're just going to walk up to a giant weird thing in the middle of a giant weird room and touch it, right? Why not take a look around and see for yourself what kind of place this is? Perhaps you'll run into someone in the same predicament as you, or perhaps you'll run into someone who can help explain why there's a weird rock now affixed to your body?

B: It's Thursday in Waverly Bay, and that can mean only one thing: the weekly Farmer's Market is here again! Stalls not only from farmers on the outskirts of town but from crafty residents with interesting homemade items to sell, and businesses looking to attract the Market's crowd are all here! Are you shopping for a good deal on vegetables for dinner? Or perhaps you're getting a feel for the residents, having recently arrived? Or, perhaps, are you an industrious gem who's looking to set up shop? Either way, you're bound to run into somebody in this bustling, busy place.

C: Uh-oh! Looks like you've run into a monster! Apparently, from what little you've heard, you can shapeshift into things and pull a weapon from your gem, and you have some sort of special power, but maybe you don't know what it is yet, or you're still not used to using it? Guess you're going to have to learn on the job. Don't leave your fellow gems hanging if you see them fighting one of these little guys either! You're going to need each other to take 'em down!

[So, uh... this sure is a thing that's happening. Bubbles everywhere and gem-encrusted temples are nothing she hasn't encountered before, but that bizarre compulsion to squish herself into a perfectly Aradia-shaped hole was very uncomfortable and not an experience she'd like to repeat. So sue her, she doesn't like forces beyond mortal comprehension messing with her think pan.

Or her basic physiology, for that matter. She can be found examining her reflection in the Heart, poking at a large, deep red pear cut ruby embedded in the middle of her forehead. It feels weird, and she's not totally sure what to make of it. If that wasn't bad enough, she gets the oddest feeling that something like this has happened before, though she can't put her finger on what just yet.

Other things she has not put her fingers on yet: the blood pusher shaped thing. She saw the note attached to it, saying "TOUCH ME", she just hasn't gotten around to actually doing it yet. There's definitely some spooky shit going on here, and while normally she's all about the spooky shit, the sudden lack of her powers has her a little more wary than usual.

... That Gem will have to be you, though. Aradia doesn't do the fighting anymore! I mean, there's also that whole thing where she's still not used to the new powers, but she wouldn't be fighting it anyway. Instead, she is sitting on a nearby fence, sipping a smoothie and watching like the creeper she is. Good luck!]

[ Feferi always likes to be on the move; she's not much for sitting around and doing nothing, and often, her feet take her to the center of the temple, where the Heart is. She doesn't really know why, she just feels drawn in there sometimes, and she doesn't really mind. It's strangely pleasant, comfortable, like being around her lusus.

Today, though, there's another familiar face, and the second she spots that set of curly-cue horns, she forgets everything else that she was or wasn't doing and throws her arms out in surprise. ]

Aradia! Aradia, it's you!

[Well that sure sounds like a fishy girl she knows! Aradia turns away from her reflection and waves to her with a smile.]

It is indeed me! Hi, Feferi. They got you too, huh?

[... Wait what does she even mean by that. "You found Trollmigara Fault and it led you here, too?" Why is she working from the assumption that that could happen more than once? But that thought only crosses the peripherals of her mind, as a whisper of deja vu.]

Yes, they got me, I guess! I like your thing!

[ She points to her own forehead, to indicate Aradia's gem. ]

How long have you been here, did you just show up?

Yeah, just a few minutes ago. [She looks up at her gem, going a little cross-eyed to do so, and points to it.] Do you know what this is? I mean obviously it is some kind of jewel, but it is extremely stuck and to be honest I am a little worried about that.

[Says she barely sounding worried at all.]

[fintastic]

It's a gem! Come here, touch this!

[ To demonstrate, Feferi skips over to the Heart, and places her hands on it, then takes them away. ]

It won't hurt you, and you will understand a whole lot more, a lot faster than I can explain it to you. It's kind of like having a sprite in your head for a minute!

[Huh... well, if Feferi says it's fine, she may as well give it a try. Aradia reaches up and rests one hand gently upon the Heart. Having been a sprite once herself, the sensation of Suddenly Knowing Stuff isn't new to her, but she still takes a second to process it. She is the gem all of a sudden? And now she has new powers in place of her old ones but it doesn't say what they are exactly? Also there are mahnsters again, go fight them? What?????

Unsatisfied, she lowers her hand and looks to her friend.]

I think this plan might have just backfired on you, because now I have even more questions.

Glubsigh. Alright then, but at least come back to my respiteblock first!

[ Not that she minds being here, but her pillow pile is considerably comfier. Very good for lounging with friends. ]

[Well. That's certainly one way to react to finding a gem on your person. Jane's just entered the room, and she stops, taking stock of the new person before the Heart Gem. The grey skin and horns are clear indicators of a troll, and one Jane knows she hasn't seen before. She clears her throat to get the other girl's attention before coming forward.]

Hello there! You're new, aren't you?

(kekeke team fedorable rides again)

[Aradia turns on cue, and - whoa, now there's an odd sensation. For the briefest of moments, Aradia simultaneously does and doesn't know who the girl talking to her is. But "does" wins out. The power of friendship is just too strong.]

Yeah, I... Jane! You're Jane, right? I almost didn't recognize you.

(it rides forever into the sunset)

But in all seriousness, Jane looks surprised that this girl knows her name.]

Oh...um, I'm sorry. We...have we met before? I'm guessing it was in Sburb, wasn't it?

No, no, not there. It was...

[Her smile falters. Wait, have they met before? They must have, she has a very clear impression that she knows Jane and they are friends. But where did that come from?

She thinks intently, unconsciously rubbing the gem on her forehead, consciously trying to dig up everything she knows about her. Turning her brain inside-out and dumping the contents on the ground, more or less.]

It was... Shoot, it's on the tip of my lick frond. There was a mural, or... no, weren't we in space? At some point?

[She scratches her head, visibly confused.] I mean, I feel like it was a long time ago, but not that long.

[Now you have Jane wondering if that's the case. But, she'd remember, wouldn't she? She remembers all the trolls she's met.]

I...I couldn't say. My mind's drawing a blank. But...well, does it matter, really? I know we've both got that darned game in common, you have to! You're a troll.

[Well, she is right that it doesn't really matter. Aradia shrugs it off.]

You're right about that! About both those things, actually. Yes, I am a troll, and yes, we do have that darned game in common. [Hee hee!]

My name's Aradia. Nice to meet you! Either again, or for the first time, or some combination of the two.

[Jane holds a hand out for Aradia to shake.]

Whichever it is, it's nice to meet you too! And I hope you'll be glad to know that we're definitely outside the realm of that darned game here.

[ Lev's been staring at Aradia. Openly staring. Eventually, he approaches her, making sure that she can see him and that he doesn't take her by surprise. ]

Um. Hello? Good afternoon. I realise it's ... a rude question, but--

[ He clears his throat, hesitates and then takes a deep breath. ]

Are you some sort of Spirit?

[Well, good of him not to sneak up on her. Aradia blinks for a second, then grins.]

Nope, I am not! I am very much alive, as a matter of fact.

[ Oh. Lev blushes, but he's undeterred. Mistakes like this happen. ]

Spirits can be alive, too! What I meant is-- you're not mortal, yes?

[ She's clearly not a lovek or a "human". Lev still isn't sure what a human is, but Aradia doesn't look like it. ]

[Alive spirits, huh? Maybe they're thinking of different things.]

Oh - yes. I mean, that's right, I'm not. You can tell just by looking? [Color her impressed.]

A for it's been AGES~

[Rise spots a... well, not exactly familiar face. Sort of familiar? It's been years, but one doesn't forget seeing a gray-skinned girl with horns. But back then Rise was taller, and she never talked to her much either. So for all she can tell, this could just be a completely strange girl who reminds her of someone else she saw around in Exsilium way back whenever.

Aradia however, might recognize Rise if she has clear memories of a certain magic castle. Though the Rise that lived there was definitely a teenager and not... the small child this one seems to be. Well, usually. You never knew with the castle's magic. She does have the same face and the same trademark twintails though, just obviously much younger. Her voice is the same when she speaks too, albeit noticeably higher. The one other major difference is the faceted heart-shaped pink gem on her forehead, largely obscured by her bangs but definitely visible from certain angles.]

Hello?

[The young girl seems nervous and uncertain while approaching Aradia. But she seems new, so Rise wants to help.]

[Unfortunately, Aradia's memories of said castle are mostly subconscious at the moment, but a flicker of recognition does cross her face when she sees the lil' human wiggler. She looks ... oddly familiar, somehow. But where from?

Well, anyway, she looks scared. Maybe the same thing happened to her, what with the forehead rock and all. But Aradia smiles and bends closer to her level, propping her hands on her knees.]

Hello there! Don't worry, I don't bite.

[Ordinarily, Rise might just take that as a joke. But because of Aradia's appearance, suddenly she worries that she might have seemed more scared than she thought she did. It wasn't that she was scared, honest!]

I... I didn't think you would!

[Wow, did she really just say that? Cue the blushing now. Quick, Rise, think of something else to say.]

You're a gem too?

[It sounds obvious the second it's out of her mouth, but there it is. Give her a second to get over the nerves and maybe she'll stop saying dumb things.]

[We'll say by this point she's gone ahead and touched the weird blood pusher thing. She thumbs over her shoulder at it.]

Well, according to that thing I am. But I'm actually a troll. My name's Aradia. Who are you?

[Troll? Weird, she hadn't expected that to be what the older girl is. But she did spend a whole year in Equestria with magical ponies and talking animals and whatnot, so hearing someone say they're a troll doesn't even faze her anymore. She just smiles, brightening up at having an answer to her not-quite-spoken question and a name to call this new girl.]

Oh! I'm a human, and my name's Rise! It's nice to meet you, Aradia-san!

Nice to meet you too, Rise!

[A pause... Wait a minute, yeah, that's familiar. That's very familiar.]

Although... have we met before? I get the distinct feeling we have met before. Only you were a lot smaller. Or else a lot bigger.
