TEST DRIVE MEME
Hello and welcome to the COSMOGRAPHIA TEST DRIVE MEME! This is a place where you can get a feel for your character(s) in the game's setting! A couple quick points before we get down to business:
☆ Please take a look at our Premise, World Information, and our FAQ to get a feel for the rules and setting. This is great if you want to see what the game is about before jumping in!
☆ Test Drive threads are certainly allowed to be used for samples for your application, should you choose to submit one!
SAMPLE SCENARIOS:
A: By whatever means, you've tumbled through a hole into a cavernous temple. Gems suspended in bubbles float about the ceiling, and a large Heartlike gem looms before you. Touching it, whether out of curiosity or frustration, will give you some basic information, but then again, there's no guarantee you're just going to walk up to a giant weird thing in the middle of a giant weird room and touch it, right? Why not take a look around and see for yourself what kind of place this is? Perhaps you'll run into someone in the same predicament as you, or perhaps you'll run into someone who can help explain why there's a weird rock now affixed to your body?
B: It's Thursday in Waverly Bay, and that can mean only one thing: the weekly Farmer's Market is here again! Stalls not only from farmers on the outskirts of town but from crafty residents with interesting homemade items to sell, and businesses looking to attract the Market's crowd are all here! Are you shopping for a good deal on vegetables for dinner? Or perhaps you're getting a feel for the residents, having recently arrived? Or, perhaps, are you an industrious gem who's looking to set up shop? Either way, you're bound to run into somebody in this bustling, busy place.
C: Uh-oh! Looks like you've run into a monster! Apparently, from what little you've heard, you can shapeshift into things and pull a weapon from your gem, and you have some sort of special power, but maybe you don't know what it is yet, or you're still not used to using it? Guess you're going to have to learn on the job. Don't leave your fellow gems hanging if you see them fighting one of these little guys either! You're going to need each other to take 'em down!

That's...not very reassuring. What if I get lost looking for a snack? Although the room thing is kinda cool I guess...I've never had my own room before.
[Their house hadn't been very big so he'd had to share a room with his sisters. Then, when he'd gotten to Beacon, he'd shared a room with his team.]
no subject
[Glancing at him, she smiles.]
And there are plenty of people who can help while you're getting used to everything. The only real danger is if you start going too far into the temple.
no subject
[It's be nice if he didn't have to worry about getting lost after all. Although apparently there were other things to worry about...]
What happens when you get too far from the temple?
no subject
I...suppose that would be a good idea.
[And she's trying, but she's not entirely thrilled about the idea of going back to her own room.]
From what I've heard, there are many long tunnels here in the temple. Going too far into is how many get lost.
no subject
Got it...so don't wander too far off and I should be fine. What about outside of the temple...you said there was some kind of city?
no subject
It's really just a small town close by. The residents are quite friendly, though, and they seem used to the idea of us as gems to help them.
[She pauses a moment to look at the different gems on the doors.]
Let's see...we'll have to find the one that resembles your gem.
no subject
Hmmm...I'm only seeing reds and blues right now...mine is yellow. [Pause] You don't happen to know much about rocks do you? I'm not even sure what kind of gem this is...
no subject
I'm not too familiar with them myself, unfortunately. However, I believe there's a jeweler in town who could help.
no subject
I guess it doesn't matter if we can match on sight---it'd just be nice to know what kind of gem I have fused to me.
[It seems like it'd be easier to identify a gem than it would be to identify his semblance at this point.]
I'll find him later I guess...[Jaune squints and then points at a door several feet down the hall.] Is that it? Or is that more of an...orange?
no subject
It could be. The best way to tell is to focus your energy into your gem to open the door.
no subject
Right. Here it goes.
[Jaune held out his hand and focused. The words 'open' may have been repeating in his head over and over. However, the door didn't move. Now, whether this was the wrong door or just Jaune failing at actually focusing his energy was just about anyone's guess.]
no subject
Just concentrate on your gem. Don't think about anything else.
no subject
Jaune had his eyes closed but, when he hears the shifting door, he opens his eyes and grins.]
I did it!
no subject
Well done! I knew you could, Jaune.
no subject
[He's not so much excited by the room as he is actually getting his gem and the door to work. It's a living space, so honestly what's to get excited about?]
Oh wow -- there's a little kitchen in here -- that's different!
no subject
Yes. The kitchen and bathroom remain constant from each room. But the room itself is actually magic, and you can change how it appears by imagining how it would look.
no subject
Really? That...sounds like it could be hard to do. Do you just think about it and it happens or what?
no subject
Essentially.
no subject
Hey, you're right, it does work.
[Jaune unfurls the pajamas as if Pyrrha hasn't seen them all the time from them sharing quarters at Beacon.]
Nice.
no subject
Well, just be careful. There are some limitations to these rooms, including anything that's created in the room can't be taken out of it.
no subject
Really? I'd say that's weird -- but I guess compared to a lot of things I've learned in the past few minutes. I guess it's a little random though. Is there a reason?
no subject
We also aren't able to create real food in these rooms, or anything too big. I know some people have modeled their rooms after houses, but I don't think it can be much bigger than that.
no subject
[Jaune sets the pjs on the end of the bed and flops down to have a seat -- no sense in just standing around -- plus he needed to see how comfy this was going to be. He wasn't disappointed.]
Ah well, I'm used to small spaces so I'll probably leave it as is.
[He'd probably redecorate a little -- but space wise he wasn't going to complain.]
What about your room Pyrrha? Have you done much with it?
no subject
...Sort of. I...haven't done too much with it, really.
no subject
[Awkward silence pause. He bites his lip, curious to ask but not sure if he should. He decides to change tactics.]
Yeah, it's just a room, not much reason to decorate.
