Hello and welcome to the COSMOGRAPHIA TEST DRIVE MEME! This is a place where you can get a feel for your character(s) in the game's setting! A couple quick points before we get down to business:

☆ Please take a look at our Premise, World Information, and our FAQ to get a feel for the rules and setting. This is great if you want to see what the game is about before jumping in!

☆ Test Drive threads are certainly allowed to be used for samples for your application, should you choose to submit one!

SAMPLE SCENARIOS:

A: By whatever means, you've tumbled through a hole into a cavernous temple. Gems suspended in bubbles float about the ceiling, and a large Heartlike gem looms before you. Touching it, whether out of curiosity or frustration, will give you some basic information, but then again, there's no guarantee you're just going to walk up to a giant weird thing in the middle of a giant weird room and touch it, right? Why not take a look around and see for yourself what kind of place this is? Perhaps you'll run into someone in the same predicament as you, or perhaps you'll run into someone who can help explain why there's a weird rock now affixed to your body?

B: It's Thursday in Waverly Bay, and that can mean only one thing: the weekly Farmer's Market is here again! Stalls not only from farmers on the outskirts of town but from crafty residents with interesting homemade items to sell, and businesses looking to attract the Market's crowd are all here! Are you shopping for a good deal on vegetables for dinner? Or perhaps you're getting a feel for the residents, having recently arrived? Or, perhaps, are you an industrious gem who's looking to set up shop? Either way, you're bound to run into somebody in this bustling, busy place.

C: Uh-oh! Looks like you've run into a monster! Apparently, from what little you've heard, you can shapeshift into things and pull a weapon from your gem, and you have some sort of special power, but maybe you don't know what it is yet, or you're still not used to using it? Guess you're going to have to learn on the job. Don't leave your fellow gems hanging if you see them fighting one of these little guys either! You're going to need each other to take 'em down!

[ This was interesting. One moment, she was wandering around Hakugyokurou, looking for a certain gardener, when she found a hole. A curious hole. A very curious hole. Did that shrine maiden decide to leave it during one of her incidences? She likely would have heard about it from one of the spirits. Besides, it didn't seem particularly youkai-shaped, and Reimu wasn't the type to leave imprints in someone's wall when she fought. Usually. She did have her moments, after all.

So color her surprised when, upon further inspection, that hole was the perfect size for one such as herself to wander in. It was tempting. Very tempting. Strangely tempting. And without question, Yuyuko wandered inside.

What she found at the end of the rabbit hole was not quite what she expected. What was she looking at, exactly? Tilting her head this way and that, an elegant folded paper fan held at her lips, the silk brocade, cherry blossom-adorned kimono practically glowing in the hearts light.

She might be here a while. ]

[ After a few days of 1) figuring out that this very much was not Gensokyo, 2) Youmu was unfortunately not there (did that mean she would have to do work?), and 3) she was something called a gem and that this afforded her certain powers (including mastery over the door--convenient!), Yuyuko had decided.

It was time to venture out into town. Get a lay of the land, as it were.

Insistent that she still wear the clothes that she came here with, despite the fact that she stuck out like a sore thumb, the former ghost was mystified by the various sights and sounds she saw. She recognized a few things from Rinnosuke's strange curio shop, but most of it was completely foreign to her. It was fun!

But what drew her attention the most was the sudden smell of something. Something delicious. Her feet followed the scent until it led her to the Farmers Market. It was like one of those human villages!

Letting her nose lead her, Yuyuko flitted through the crowds, her geta clicking softly as she walked, until she finally found it--the source of that heavenly smell. ]

Hmm?

[ Aaaaand a Sold Out sign hanging above the stand. But lo, there was someone (see: a poor sap) with some food, and eating it out in the open. Her stomach growling again, she practically hovered over, putting a hand to her cheek dejectedly. She huffed a sigh, a hand still delicately placed on her cheek. ]

My, my, you must be so lucky. That looks delicious.

[ She's not mooching. No, never. But what she is doing is laying it on thick. Pretty lady wants a bite of your food. ]

[ Well, eventually a certain vampire wanders in... only there's a bit of a difference from the Remilia Yuyuko might know. She's a full grown adult.

And yes, she most certainly recognizes Yuyuko and her general 'I know more things than you!' air she has which gets annoying. ]

My my, look what the cat dragged in...

[ Hearing a somewhat familiar voice--did it sound a bit different?--Yuyuko tilts her head a bit to see. Oh my. ]

Oh, hello Remilia. Did you do something different with your hair? I like it.

[ She smiles serenely. It's hard to say whether that was a joke, a jab or if Yuyuko's just being Yuyuko. ]

[ Familiar enough, despite sounding more mature and not very childish at all... A mezzo-soprano rather than a soprano. ]

I see you haven't changed a bit.

[ Remilia is familiar enough with Yuyuko to expect something like that from her. ]

I haven't? That's good~

[ She giggles a bit, opening up her fan before turning back toward the heart. ]

Perhaps you could tell me what this. It looks like a strange root vegetable.

[ You probably shouldn't try to eat it, Yuyuko. ]

Well... apart from the little thing where you've lost your powers. Oh, and you're not quite a ghost any more.

That's the Heart Gem... I wouldn't try to eat it.

[ Or she could try anyway and provide Remilia with a few moments of entertainment. ]

Ah, that might explain a few things.

[ Although the difference between being a ghost and being a youkai or a human wasn't too terribly much, all told. Save for the power over death. She might miss that a little, it was hard to tell. ]

The Heart Gem. I still think it looks like a root vegetable. They could call it the Radish Gem, perhaps? Or maybe the Beet Gem would be more apt.

[ She tilts her head again in contemplation. Obviously she's taking this whole situation very seriously. ]

That and the gem somewhere on your body...

[ The power loss was... really not ideal, in Remi's opinion. She's not a fan. ]

Instead of trying to eat it, just go and touch it.

[ ...And the 'touch me!' sign has fallen off again. ]

[ Jury's still out here on her feelings. ] Oh, I wouldn't want to be rude. [ This Heart Beet Gem must belong to someone. It wasn't nice to touch someone else's stuff. She isn't like a certain witch who will remain unnamed. ]

[What have they here? Of course, the inquisitive ghost led by her nose would just have to watch as she continued to eat. Maybe she would share; higher chances that she wouldn't, but there were good days sometimes. A Farmer's Market promoting fresh produce and healthy plants might be that day.]

[... For now, she'll take another bite, chew, and swallow, red eyes closing as she hummed.]

Quite delicious actually. How tragic though; it seems I bought the rest.

[Gem on her shoulder, summoned parasol over her shoulder as usual... Yuuka took another bite.]

[ Ah, the sunflower youkai was here as well? And she was being a tease too, of course. No one likes a sore winner, Yuuka. ] Oh, is that right? That isn't very nice of you, Yuuka. I was so looking forward to some. Ah, I might waste away at this rate... [ She isn't laying the maudlin act on too thick. After all, she didn't expect to get anything from her, truth be told. At least not yet. ]

[They're at the perfect temperature to eat right now. The numbers will surely dwindle at this rate. Though, Yuyuko's proposal gives her pause... maybe.]

And I was considering being a little charitable since it's such a nice day, but if you're going to waste away, that should be entertaining to watch.

Oh, I wouldn't give you the pleasure of watching. Wasting away is a very private process, you understand, and I can't say that we are quite that close.

However, a gift of goodwill may guarantee that I at least consider it for the next time that feeling comes along.

Consideration? How thoughtful!

[Not like she couldn't just follow Yuyuko around until she returned to her room and spoil all her attempts to get food. Goodness, that would be fun too... but then again, that would eventually become so much work. It was a good day... decisions, decisions...]

[Grabbing the other box, she goes to throw it away... no, she holds it out to Yuyuko.]

Unlike some youkai, yes.

[ Was she implying Yuuka or someone else? It was hard to say. Still, she smiled through her statement, a gentle giggle escaping her lips.

Yeah, that was totally about you.

Surprised by her sudden show of "charity", Yuyuko graciously takes the box from her grip. ]

I will remember this in the future, thank you.

[ No she won't. Her memory is terrible when she wants it to be. Which is whenever it's most useful for her to be forgetful. So about 80% of the time. ]

[She chuckles because yeah, she knows... and heck if she cared.]

How polite. Don't strain yourself.

[While Yuyuko won't remember... Yuuka will collect with interest in the future.]

[Yuyuko, don't approach strange children and try to steal their food. ... Rise might not technically be a child, but she certainly looks it to anyone who doesn't know that. She clutches her small bag of steamed pork buns to her chest as she gazes up at the pretty lady, kind of stunned for a moment.]

Huh? Oh... would you like one?

[She has more than she can eat by herself, after all. She was going to bring some home, but this woman seems pretty hungry.]

[saigyouji]

[ Why not? That's part of the fun of being a ghost. Being a spook is old hat, mooching for food is where it's at!

Also she has a sweet spot for meat anything, so she might have resorted to spooktacular measures, if it came to it. Thankfully Rise was safe today! ]

Are you offering me one?

[ Her face lights up like a child, and she claps her hands together, head tilted slightly. How can you resist this face? You can't, is what. ]

[Fortunately, she wasn't inclined to resist at all! With a bright, cheerful smile of her own, she holds out one of the steamed buns in her small hand.]

Here! I can't eat all of them anyway, so if you're really hungry...

[The woman seems nice, after all. Maybe she just arrived and didn't have any money for food?]

[saigyouji]

[ Yuyuko crouches down a bit and receives the gift of one very tasty-looking steamed pork bun. If she weren't such a classy lady, she might drool cry. ] Thank you very much. [ Standing up, she takes a small bite, quickly covering her mouth with her hand, exhaling a bit of steam, then sighing in happiness. Yes, this was what she was missing. ] It tastes like home~ [ Have a pat on the head with the hand not holding her pork bun. ] What a sweet child you are!

You're welcome!

[Aw, it's nice seeing her look so happy! Rise giggles lightly at the happy sigh, and... well, she blushes a little when Yuyuko pats her head. She's sure that was meant as a compliment, awkward as it still feels sometimes being treated as a small child by strangers.]

I'm glad you like it. Um... I'm Rise.

[Better to introduce herself than risk being called 'child' all the time.]

[ What an interesting name. ]

My name is Yuyuko Saigyouji. It's a pleasure to meet you, Rise.

[ She takes another dainty bite of the pork bun before looking around. ]

Is this some sort of festival?

Nice to meet you, Saigyouji-san!

[Rise takes another bite of her own pork bun. A slightly less dainty one, but that's understandable given her age size. She gets a good sense from Yuyuko, so she already likes her.]

Festival...?

[She tilts her head a bit, clearly confused at how Yuyuko drew that conclusion.]

I don't think so. It's just the regular market.

[From one from one of the hallways a small figure with a fishing rod and bag. Without her wings, it may be difficult to figure out it's Cirno with the serious and quiet way she's moving. That and the fact she seems taller and older then she used to.

She stops and stares for a moment, before speaking up.]

...It likes to bring people here unexpectedly. Different types of the people you know.

Is that so?

[ Whether or not Yuyuko recognized the ice fairy was hard to say; she was, after all, never one to divulge such secrets. Still, she gives Cirno a kind smile. ]

And where is "here," exactly, if you don't mind my asking?
