TEST DRIVE MEME
Hello and welcome to the COSMOGRAPHIA TEST DRIVE MEME! This is a place where you can get a feel for your character(s) in the game's setting! A couple quick points before we get down to business:
☆ Please take a look at our Premise, World Information, and our FAQ to get a feel for the rules and setting. This is great if you want to see what the game is about before jumping in!
☆ Test Drive threads are certainly allowed to be used for samples for your application, should you choose to submit one!
SAMPLE SCENARIOS:
A: By whatever means, you've tumbled through a hole into a cavernous temple. Gems suspended in bubbles float about the ceiling, and a large Heartlike gem looms before you. Touching it, whether out of curiosity or frustration, will give you some basic information, but then again, there's no guarantee you're just going to walk up to a giant weird thing in the middle of a giant weird room and touch it, right? Why not take a look around and see for yourself what kind of place this is? Perhaps you'll run into someone in the same predicament as you, or perhaps you'll run into someone who can help explain why there's a weird rock now affixed to your body?
B: It's Thursday in Waverly Bay, and that can mean only one thing: the weekly Farmer's Market is here again! Stalls not only from farmers on the outskirts of town but from crafty residents with interesting homemade items to sell, and businesses looking to attract the Market's crowd are all here! Are you shopping for a good deal on vegetables for dinner? Or perhaps you're getting a feel for the residents, having recently arrived? Or, perhaps, are you an industrious gem who's looking to set up shop? Either way, you're bound to run into somebody in this bustling, busy place.
C: Uh-oh! Looks like you've run into a monster! Apparently, from what little you've heard, you can shapeshift into things and pull a weapon from your gem, and you have some sort of special power, but maybe you don't know what it is yet, or you're still not used to using it? Guess you're going to have to learn on the job. Don't leave your fellow gems hanging if you see them fighting one of these little guys either! You're going to need each other to take 'em down!

I'd start working on another one then. The town's crawling with these bugs right now.
[Probably some kind of hive mentality or something going on here, like with the moles.
At the same time though, she glances back at him with a lop-sided smile.]
Good to see you, Jaune.
no subject
Huh? Really? I only saw the one so far...guess I got lucky.
[He smiles awkwardly. After his encounter with Pyrrha he doesn't want to blow it. Appearance-wise, it doesn't look like Yang went through what he knows her to have gone through. Of course, it could just as easily be a part of this whole gem thing -- but he's determined not to bring it up]
You too. Looks like you've had an easier time with this whole gem power thing.

I've been here awhile. Got a lot of practice with it.
[Okay, now she's just smirking.]
no subject
Uh huh. So is that why you're out here? Cleaning up bugs or whatever those things are?
[He gestures at where the bug had been blasted. However, it seems he isn't as lucky as he thought -- where there had been one bug it now seemed a few of its friends had arrived.]
What? Oh man, come on!

her munthe Heart Gem decides to send her home for the worst vacation ever.]Today, anyway.
[Tomorrow she has a shift at the local diner because fighting monsters doesn't pay the bills here like it does back home, which sucks.
Speaking of fighting monsters though, she turns to see the small group of Centipeetles that's assembled. She's still smirking though.]
Told you there was more.
[She cocks a fist back, priming her gauntlets for a fight.]
You figure out how to summon your weapon yet?
[She is still kinda mad the Heart Gem hasn't been bringing people in with their weapons like it used to, just why, Heart Gem, that makes no sense.]
no subject
Still working on that part.
[And all the other abilities he supposedly had. It was like the Aura/Semblance problem back home, except somehow worse because now he didn't even have a sword and shield to utilize and fall back on. Jaune opens his left palm, tapping at the pyrite embedded there, before shaking his hand out -- like that would somehow drop his weapon into his hands.]
I think I got a dud rock.
[Sure Jaune. It's the rock's fault.
Meanwhile the Centipeetles have gotten restless and are now drooling at the sight of Yang and Jaune. The biggest of them wiggles its butt like a cat about to pounce and, sure enough, it does.]

Yang glances over her shoulder back at Jaune.]
Don't think about it too hard.
[It's the best advice she can give. She's personally taken to considering her gem as an extension of herself, just like Ember Celica, even if the reality is more that she's become an extension of her gem.
Two of the remaining Centipeetles give an angry screech and then spit acid at her, although Yang deftly avoids the streams, hopping to one side and seemingly trying to draw their attention as she returns fire.
But the other Centipeetles turn back to Jaune, snapping their pincers at him like irritable puppies.]

[Jaune does tend to overthink things. Something Pyrrha had said to him numerous times when they'd worked on his aura on the roof. It's supposed to just...be there or something. Jaune was a practical kind of guy so a lot of the aura/spiritual mumbo-jumbo went over his head.
He tries to watch Yang for some kind of hint, but realizes almost too late that his guard is down to the other Centipeetles in the area. He turns.]
Uh oh.
[The Centipeetles must take that as their cue and they scurry towards him, pincers snapping viciously as they make their move. Jaune scrambles away, even as his brain is trying to figure out what to do. As he stars to run he shakes his left hand, again in an effort to get something, anything to happen.]
Nononononono. COME ON!
[He hears a screech of an incoming Centipeetle and spins on his heel, thrusting his arm up to defend . Maybe the armor her wears will prevent the acid from eating into his clothes and flesh. As he moves to defend there's a flash of yellow-white light and a familiar looking shield briefly appears on Jaune's arm. The Centipeetle slams into it as Jaune brings it forward and is then sent flying back and into it's partner. The two creatures tumble over each other.]
Yes! Haha!
[Jaune deepened his stance and then noticed something off about the shield. It certainly looked like his--but it was missing his sword.]
...crud.
no subject
Problems?
no subject
One of the Centipeetles has recovered and spits at Jaune's head. He raises the shield and the acid splashes off of it, droplets falling to the ground. He charges forward with a cry and slams the shield into the gem-creature again. Sure, a shield was mainly defensive, but that didn't mean he couldn't use it for offense if forced to. The Centipeetle screeches in pain as he presses down on it.]
N-no. All fine here.
[the Centipeetle splats and then poofs out of existence. Which is a relief to Jaune.]
