TEST DRIVE MEME
Hello and welcome to the COSMOGRAPHIA TEST DRIVE MEME! This is a place where you can get a feel for your character(s) in the game's setting! A couple quick points before we get down to business:
☆ Please take a look at our Premise, World Information, and our FAQ to get a feel for the rules and setting. This is great if you want to see what the game is about before jumping in!
☆ Test Drive threads are certainly allowed to be used for samples for your application, should you choose to submit one!
SAMPLE SCENARIOS:
A: By whatever means, you've tumbled through a hole into a cavernous temple. Gems suspended in bubbles float about the ceiling, and a large Heartlike gem looms before you. Touching it, whether out of curiosity or frustration, will give you some basic information, but then again, there's no guarantee you're just going to walk up to a giant weird thing in the middle of a giant weird room and touch it, right? Why not take a look around and see for yourself what kind of place this is? Perhaps you'll run into someone in the same predicament as you, or perhaps you'll run into someone who can help explain why there's a weird rock now affixed to your body?
B: It's Thursday in Waverly Bay, and that can mean only one thing: the weekly Farmer's Market is here again! Stalls not only from farmers on the outskirts of town but from crafty residents with interesting homemade items to sell, and businesses looking to attract the Market's crowd are all here! Are you shopping for a good deal on vegetables for dinner? Or perhaps you're getting a feel for the residents, having recently arrived? Or, perhaps, are you an industrious gem who's looking to set up shop? Either way, you're bound to run into somebody in this bustling, busy place.
C: Uh-oh! Looks like you've run into a monster! Apparently, from what little you've heard, you can shapeshift into things and pull a weapon from your gem, and you have some sort of special power, but maybe you don't know what it is yet, or you're still not used to using it? Guess you're going to have to learn on the job. Don't leave your fellow gems hanging if you see them fighting one of these little guys either! You're going to need each other to take 'em down!

[Karamatsu comes to a stop once he's in the room proper, taking a moment to marvel at just how small and delicate Chihiro is. He can't say that he blames her much for being nervous.
He lifts a hand to push down his sunglasses so he can look at Chihiro over the tops of them.]
I'm guessing you just arrived. But do not worry! I am here to assist you.
[With a flick of his hand, his glasses are pushed back up and he's offering his other to Chihiro with a smile that he hopes is as charming as he thinks it is.]

[That's fine; Karamatsu is plenty used to his gestures not being responded to, so after another second passes he pulls back, pushing his hands back into his pockets again.]
People show up in this place rather frequently, it seems. I just arrived a few days ago, myself.
[And here he was, planning on being the hero and showing Chihiro the way when he barely knows it himself.]
You found an entrance, a hole that you couldn't possibly resist exploring, did you not?

Uh... y-yes, I did. I... I was hoping it was a way to escape... Though now I don't have a clue where I am.

Escape?
[Okay, well that's...different. And a little ominous.]
This is the Temple. And this- [Karamatsu gestures to the crystal Heart at the center of the room.] -is the "Heart" of it. If you place your hand on its surface, it will tell you everything there is to know about this place.
But simply put, this is not where you originally came from. You see, those holes appear in other worlds, leading people to this one...only to disappear afterwards, with no means of returning. Our fate is torn between two dimensions: that of this world, and the one we knew to be our own.
[There he goes. So much for letting the Heart do the talking.]
And now, we are completely different entities. Gems, as they call us! Gems with incredible abilities and our entire existence connected to a flawless gemstone located somewhere on our bodies.

It shouldn't be. From what I have been told, once you arrive, you cannot actually leave of your own doing. I'm not sure how else it happens...but sometimes people just go back.
For now, however, you are here.
[It was admittedly difficult for Kara to wrap his head around at first as well. He was under the impression his brothers were right there with him but, well. He hasn't seen any of his siblings in days. It's probably the longest they've been apart, now that he thinks about it.]

Karamatsu has said a lot of wrong and painful things in his life, but this is the worst thing he could have done.]
N-no! No no no, don't cry! Don't cry!
[He quickly lifts his hands in front of him, at a complete loss for what to do. He always imagined that if he came across a crying girl, he would be able to solve all of her problems and make everything right again. But not when he's the one who caused it.
Karamatsu drops down to one knee, hands shaking as he shoves them into every pocket he has, fumbling and searching until he finally pulls out a handkerchief from the inside of his jacket, carefully offering it to Chihiro.]
Please, I did not mean to say anything wrong...it will turn out, okay? All hope is not lost!

[ a sniffle... and then he shakily reaches out for the hanky, wiping his eyes ]

[Karamatsu nods, though he doesn't really relax at all just yet, especially not with Chihiro sobbing so hard like that. But at least Chihiro accepted the handkerchief, that's a step in the right direction...
He's gotta fix this, somehow. He feels responsible in that familiar, guilty way that tugs at him whenever he's directly (or indirectly, in this face) tipped something over the edge.

Mm...I may not understand your situation, but I will stay with you until you feel like you are okay. Okay?
