TEST DRIVE MEME

Hello and welcome to the COSMOGRAPHIA TEST DRIVE MEME! This is a place where you can get a feel for your character(s) in the game's setting! A couple quick points before we get down to business:

☆ Please take a look at our Premise, World Information, and our FAQ to get a feel for the rules and setting. This is great if you want to see what the game is about before jumping in!

☆ Test Drive threads are certainly allowed to be used for samples for your application, should you choose to submit one!

SAMPLE SCENARIOS:

A: By whatever means, you've tumbled through a hole into a cavernous temple. Gems suspended in bubbles float about the ceiling, and a large Heartlike gem looms before you. Touching it, whether out of curiosity or frustration, will give you some basic information, but then again, there's no guarantee you're just going to walk up to a giant weird thing in the middle of a giant weird room and touch it, right? Why not take a look around and see for yourself what kind of place this is? Perhaps you'll run into someone in the same predicament as you, or perhaps you'll run into someone who can help explain why there's a weird rock now affixed to your body?

B: It's Thursday in Waverly Bay, and that can mean only one thing: the weekly Farmer's Market is here again! Stalls not only from farmers on the outskirts of town but from crafty residents with interesting homemade items to sell, and businesses looking to attract the Market's crowd are all here! Are you shopping for a good deal on vegetables for dinner? Or perhaps you're getting a feel for the residents, having recently arrived? Or, perhaps, are you an industrious gem who's looking to set up shop? Either way, you're bound to run into somebody in this bustling, busy place.

C: Uh-oh! Looks like you've run into a monster! Apparently, from what little you've heard, you can shapeshift into things and pull a weapon from your gem, and you have some sort of special power, but maybe you don't know what it is yet, or you're still not used to using it? Guess you're going to have to learn on the job. Don't leave your fellow gems hanging if you see them fighting one of these little guys either! You're going to need each other to take 'em down!

[Savor it, Asriel. Savor it and don't let it go.]

... Depends on the promise. I'm not gonna promise something that's like, gross or something.

It's not gross...I just wanna know how you, um. Hm.

[How does he say this if Chara was so keen to deflect?]

I wanna know...how come you look like this now, and don't look like you.

[He'll tell you what's going on even if you don't comply, which you probably know, but he's got to try asking anyway.]

I... Still look like me. I just woke up here and you're asking me all this weird stuff, Asriel.

[That's their answer and they're sticking with it.

Like come on, Asriel, they may look like Frisk but their eyes are still the same red color they were when Chara was themselves.]

[That, besides how they speak, is really all that's the same.

But fine. He relents, sighing and scratching behind one of his ears. You won't tell him, he gets it.]

Okay. Well, um. Alright.

[He sits down, and pats the floor for Chara to follow suit.]

It's kind of complicated. You should sit down.

[Don't mind them huffing a bit, because really. Does he have to keep asking them about this? There is no point to it, but hey they're going to sit down now.]

I can get complicated, so tell me everything you can. Okay?

[You can go ahead and huff all you like, Chara, but you can't make him forget these odd things so easily. You can distract him, but not forget.]

Well...you came through a hole to get here, right? Everybody who comes here does. And, once we get here, we get a gem on us somewhere. It gives us special powers, and we're supposed to protect the people outside the temple. There's an outside, Chara! With a big ocean and sky and people, and they're all really nice! And, everyone in here is nice, too!

[He's starting to get excited about it now, because just thinking about this place reminds him of all the good things here.]

Oh, but we have to protect our gems. If they get damaged, we'll...um, well, it's kind of weird to think about it, but we'll turn into bad monsters? That's what everyone says happens. I don't want to find out if it's true, so, I try to be careful, and you should be too, okay? I-I don't want anything bad to happen to you.

[They listen, being good and not interrupting except... Oh that's a big old frown at the mention of people. Added to the "bad" monsters information it's not hard for Chara to put two and two together so when Asriel is done talking? Or at least when Chara can find a spot to speak they do so.]

So... humans.

[The gem stuff can wait. Humans are a subject that needs to be clarified ASAP.]

[Ah yeah that deflates Asriel's good mood right quick, but...he hadn't wanted to start with "so the species you hate the most is the majority here WELCOME TO GEM TOWN"]

Mm...yeah. They're not so bad, but you get your own room here. Nobody says you've gotta spend time with them, if you don't want. The Heart brings in humans, too, but also people who weren't ever humans, too.

[Just make sure Chara never learns how to summon their weapon, Asriel.]

Mm, I guess that's good to hear. And you're here so that makes it a million times better!

[And they're all smiles once more.]

[Ugh you're trying to butter him up aren't you

Ugh it's working]

Um...well...it's actually really, really nice to see you here, too, Chara! I didn't think I'd ever get to see you again...

[Of course they are, and of course it is.

Gosh Asriel is such an easy target.]

What with the whole dying thing, yeah.... I guess I'm sorry about that.

Even if the plan was great and should have worked.

Mn...let's not talk about the plan right now.

[He doesn't want to get into a fight with you right now, because nope, nope that plan was terrible.]

It doesn't matter here, right? Everyone's free already.

Fine, and are they? How many folks from the Underground are even here?

[That's the important part. No one is free if none of them are here, bro.]

[He pauses, counting on his fingers. Let's see, Sans is here...and, possibly another Sans? He thinks? And Mettaton, apparently, and Napstablook, and...Flowey. Yeah. Flowey counts. He'll count you, Flowey.]

Uh...four or five? I'm not sure. B-But, if you can come here, anyone can, can't they?

I guess? I mean I died before I got here, so I hope that isn't a requirement.

[Because consider the implications in that.]

And do I know any of them?

I don't think so.

[He pauses, thinking for a moment...]

...Yeah, there's one person you'd know. But, you wouldn't realize it right away, probably.

[They put on their thinking face here, considering what Asriel has said.]

Probably? Uhm... It can't be mom or dad, you would have told me about them first.

Yeah, Mom and Dad aren't here. [They could show up, but. He's. Hoping they won't. There's no sense in breaking their hearts here.]

... That's good, I don't think I'd want them to be here. [One can assume that Chara has the same thoughts in mind that Asriel is having but...

They don't. It's more they don't want their cover blown.]

So, um. You mentioned a gem? Can I see yours?

Oh! Uh, sure.

[Asriel shuffles around, so his back is facing Chara, and he lifts up his shirt so they can see the emerald set between his shoulder blades.]

I haven't really done much with it, um, with powers, but it's there. Makes it weird to sleep on my back though...

[Oh geez, it's on the back. That's kinda weird.]

I can imagine... [Gonna go and touch it, poke.]

That's so weird, and it's green. So it matches your clothes at least.

[Ah wow it's weird to have someone touch it. Like, he can feel it, but at the same time, not really? There's no nerves or anything in the gem, it's just...hm. It's hard to describe. Asriel hums and pulls his shirt down, turning to face Chara again.]

Yeah. I guess having it on your back is weird, 'cause I've seen them on people's foreheads and hands and chests...and sometimes one of their eyes is a gem, too! But I don't see a lot of backs.

[Hands are back on their lap as Asriel goes about pulling his shirt down and returning to facing Chara.]

Well, they may not show them because it's on the back. And I bet you haven't met like, everyone here.

[Of course they have no idea where their own gem is. ~~Because the player hasn't decided.~~]

[~~Eh don't worry too much please think it over.~~

It's something for Chara to find later, then, on their own. Nobody's made to show where their gems are.]

Mm, probably not. But the people I have met can show theirs off - sometimes they wear clothes that let them show it off!

[Good, cause even if Chara knew where it is? They wouldn't show it.]

... But what if like, it's in an embarrassing place? Like on their [They lean in close and whisper the one word as if it's the most horrible thing to say;] butt?
