Hello and welcome to the COSMOGRAPHIA TEST DRIVE MEME! This is a place where you can get a feel for your character(s) in the game's setting! A couple quick points before we get down to business:

☆ Please take a look at our Premise, World Information, and our FAQ to get a feel for the rules and setting. This is great if you want to see what the game is about before jumping in!

☆ Test Drive threads are certainly allowed to be used for samples for your application, should you choose to submit one!

SAMPLE SCENARIOS:

A: By whatever means, you've tumbled through a hole into a cavernous temple. Gems suspended in bubbles float about the ceiling, and a large Heartlike gem looms before you. Touching it, whether out of curiosity or frustration, will give you some basic information, but then again, there's no guarantee you're just going to walk up to a giant weird thing in the middle of a giant weird room and touch it, right? Why not take a look around and see for yourself what kind of place this is? Perhaps you'll run into someone in the same predicament as you, or perhaps you'll run into someone who can help explain why there's a weird rock now affixed to your body?

B: It's Thursday in Waverly Bay, and that can mean only one thing: the weekly Farmer's Market is here again! Stalls not only from farmers on the outskirts of town but from crafty residents with interesting homemade items to sell, and businesses looking to attract the Market's crowd are all here! Are you shopping for a good deal on vegetables for dinner? Or perhaps you're getting a feel for the residents, having recently arrived? Or, perhaps, are you an industrious gem who's looking to set up shop? Either way, you're bound to run into somebody in this bustling, busy place.

C: Uh-oh! Looks like you've run into a monster! Apparently, from what little you've heard, you can shapeshift into things and pull a weapon from your gem, and you have some sort of special power, but maybe you don't know what it is yet, or you're still not used to using it? Guess you're going to have to learn on the job. Don't leave your fellow gems hanging if you see them fighting one of these little guys either! You're going to need each other to take 'em down!

[Strange voice. Strange monsters.

No, not monsters. People.

People.

They look over at Gaara, and brush off the majority of the flowers. The only ones actually rooted into them are around their upper back, shoulders, and head. This person... well, they don't necessarily look like a normal human- is he wearing eyeliner or something? And what's with the tattoo on his forehead? - but he's human enough for contempt to spark in their chest.]

H-hurt is a subjective term. But I'm alright, for the most part.

Who are you anyway?

[That look Chara is giving him is uncomfortably familiar but also... not. It feels like an expression he's worn himself a few times. He takes it in for a moment before answering; those flowers are strange, but if they say they're alright...]

Sabaku no Gaara, of the Hidden Sand Village.

[Alright, well, all they needed was the name.]

Doesn't look like much of a "sand village" to me.

[Hey, you have to be formal where he's from, okay?]

This isn't it. I... was brought here, like you.

...Those flowers don't bother you?

...

[They tug on a bunch from their shoulders. One of them rips free.

They're bleeding a little.]

They hurt.

And where is "here?"

[His mouth twitches downward slightly at that, but he shifts slightly to gesture to the big gem in the center of the room.]

Waverly Bay. The gem right there will tell you everything.

Uh, okay. Other people might have been fine with a giant pink rock telling me things, but I sure am not. I'd much rather hear it from an actual person thanks.

[Gaara glances between the gem and Chara, looking physically uncomfortable. This requires interaction. This requires talking.]

...Fine. You're not really human anymore. You're what's called a 'Gem', you should have something on you that looks like a gemstone.

Found it. [They pat their chest.] What else is there? I know something's horribly different here.

...It's a regular town by a beach.

[As far as he can tell, anyway.]

... Underground beaches.

We're not underground.

[He turns to re-examine the Heart while explaining.]

This is inside of a mountain. There's an entrance to the town outside.

Are you serious?

[They have no idea what's going on. If they wandered back into the mountain... is this some kinda sick mirror to their own world?]

Can you take me there?

[social lessons 101 ft. frisk. At least they're not outright demanding.]

[His eyes widen subtly at that, and he pauses for a good moment. When he does finally react, he doesn't say anything. Instead, he gestures with his head before he turns and starts heading for the entrance - a silent invitation.]

[Being dead for eighteen years takes a lot out of you.

A silent invitation gets a silent response, as Chara starts to follow.]

[The silence continues as Gaara leads them through the Temple, stopping when the entrance is in view. Outside is pure blue sky and white sand.

His attention goes more to that second thing.]

[Chara runs completely past him once the entrance is in view, running across the sand and just feeling, the sun on their back and hot sand on their feet, and Jesus Christ lord above is it fucking bright. But they don't care.

They throw up their arms and whoop,] Yes! Surface!

[Gaara gives them a moment to rush ahead, just sort of watching them for a moment, before he follows. The sun on his skin (his actual skin, he notes with a small frown) feels nice; not nearly as hot as he's used to but definitely comforting.]

It's been some time since you've seen the sky, hasn't it?

You have no idea.

[They kick the sand around a little.]

[Hmm. Gaara eyes the sand for a moment. It's light, definitely not the same composition that he's used to, but...

He reaches out a hand, and the sand that Chara kicked rises up slightly to form a wave that laps at their feet.]
