TEST DRIVE MEME
Hello and welcome to the COSMOGRAPHIA TEST DRIVE MEME! This is a place where you can get a feel for your character(s) in the game's setting! A couple quick points before we get down to business:
☆ Please take a look at our Premise, World Information, and our FAQ to get a feel for the rules and setting. This is great if you want to see what the game is about before jumping in!
☆ Test Drive threads are certainly allowed to be used for samples for your application, should you choose to submit one!
SAMPLE SCENARIOS:
A: By whatever means, you've tumbled through a hole into a cavernous temple. Gems suspended in bubbles float about the ceiling, and a large Heartlike gem looms before you. Touching it, whether out of curiosity or frustration, will give you some basic information, but then again, there's no guarantee you're just going to walk up to a giant weird thing in the middle of a giant weird room and touch it, right? Why not take a look around and see for yourself what kind of place this is? Perhaps you'll run into someone in the same predicament as you, or perhaps you'll run into someone who can help explain why there's a weird rock now affixed to your body?
B: It's Thursday in Waverly Bay, and that can mean only one thing: the weekly Farmer's Market is here again! Stalls not only from farmers on the outskirts of town but from crafty residents with interesting homemade items to sell, and businesses looking to attract the Market's crowd are all here! Are you shopping for a good deal on vegetables for dinner? Or perhaps you're getting a feel for the residents, having recently arrived? Or, perhaps, are you an industrious gem who's looking to set up shop? Either way, you're bound to run into somebody in this bustling, busy place.
C: Uh-oh! Looks like you've run into a monster! Apparently, from what little you've heard, you can shapeshift into things and pull a weapon from your gem, and you have some sort of special power, but maybe you don't know what it is yet, or you're still not used to using it? Guess you're going to have to learn on the job. Don't leave your fellow gems hanging if you see them fighting one of these little guys either! You're going to need each other to take 'em down!

Garnet til Alexandros XVII | Final Fantasy IX | Gem undecided
[ The heart chamber was had seen many things--a number of homeless, bubbled gems, and any number of lost and wandering gems who had found their way here from countless worlds. Although it was hard to say how many managed to find their way here dressed so delicately. What kind of hole had this particular gem fallen out of? Laying there on the floor of this inner sanctum, her skirts looked almost petal-like, spilled on the ground around her.
How far had she fallen, and from where? Her dark eyes staring up at the heart stone suspended in the middle of the room, the horn-like crystal protrusion peeking out from underneath her bangs seemed to glow in the pale gem-produced light. The young woman picked herself up from the floor, still dazed from the fall and disoriented by the alarming fact that this was certainly not the castle.
A normal person might head straight for the heart itself, but Garnet seemed drawn to the smaller gems, suspended in their strange-looking prisons. She reached her hand up toward one, tentatively, curious what might happen when she touched it. ]
[B]
[ Garnet had never been to a Farmer's Market before. She was aware that Alexandria and Lindblum had things that were very similar to this, but given her particular position, she was never able to attend herself. But no longer hampered by royal responsibilities, the newly arrived gem--dressed significantly less regally than when she first arrived--danced through the crowds, her excitement and curiosity hard to contain.
Finding her way to a storefront, the young woman looked over the wares being displayed there, before picking up an item. ]
Excuse me, could you tell me what this is?
[C]
[ Wild card! Come up with your own prompt! ]
[[OOC note: Still deciding on a canon point, so speech patterns may vary depending on the thread.]]
[A]
*The admonishment isn't as stern-sounding as Velvet could have made it. Judging from her attire and behavior, this seems to be a new resident. Being summoned here is disorienting enough without being greeted by somebody scolding you for breaking rules you didn't know existed.*
*...Though at the same time, somebody bumbling in and bursting bubbles without realizing precisely what they were doing is troubling in its own right. Hm.*
*Regardless, Velvet floats into view. Though only 54cm high -- about a foot and nine inches -- she makes up most of the difference simply by hovering high enough to stay eye level with the newcomer. Drawing closer, she greets her with a simple, polite curtsey. ...One executed in midair, without immediately visible legs. Hm.*
Good day, miss. Have you just arrived...?
[A]
At least she was polite. ]
Oh, ah--
[ That was a good question, wasn't it? ]
I think so?
[A] Gem not decided as well; a Garnet!
He's already walking, moving towards her - his feet giving out the command to move as he watches her stand up. ]
Dagger!
[ He's practically running to her side and once he's there, a hand goes on her shoulder. It's been far too long since he's last seen her. ]
[ooc; canon point is typically post the final battle, but before he's reunited with Dagger and Co. Good to see FFIX folk around. ]
OKAY RUDE PERSON I wasn't GOING to app, but if cast mates are a possibility!
What might give her pause, however, was that name. From time to time, someone might call her that--Vivi perhaps, or even Steiner, in his haste, might accidentally slip a time or two.
But more than that, the voice that called out her.
Bewildered, the young queen turned quickly toward the sound, deep brown eyes wide. Even in the faint light, she was pale as a sheet, as if she had seen (or in this case heard) a ghost. When her gaze finally fell upon him, her breath catches, and a complicated expression passes over her face.
His hand felt solid on her shoulder; he was... ]
...
[ Say something. Anything. She's too dumbfounded to speak, at least right away. ]
[[ooc; similar canon point for Garnet, so this works well!]]
I'm way too tied up with stuff this month to app into games, maybe next month!
He had leaped after Kuja, intending to save him. But, he's hardly noticed the gems around now.
She's quiet and he can't quite understand why. No yelling or scolding at him, just quiet. ]
Uh, Dagger? [ He doesn't remove his hand, in fact, he just squeezes her shoulder. He's sorely tempted to pull her into a hug, but he doesn't just yet. ]
[ooc; Works for me. She might be slightly ahead of Zidane.]
That's where I'm sitting too, between working a convention and graduation
But like always, Zidane made his own way, and managed to somehow managed to find her... where was this? No, it didn't matter.
That complicated, somewhat startled expression changed quickly. Oh, she was mad. Mad and upset. Mad and upset and so very, very happy. But she wouldn't let him have that yet. ]
Zidane!
[ You want scolding? Don't worry, she has you covered. ]
Oh nice, it's spring break and I'm doing charity work after it.
She looks mad. A very tiny, small step is taken back, but not enough to remove his hand off her shoulder.
He has that "I'm in trouble" look on his face now. Now it's his turn to say nothing, he'll just wait on the scolding to hit. ]
Lucky, my spring break isn't until the end of March =3=
You just--
[ She pauses abruptly. Words were difficult. She wanted to be angry. Furious. She thought he was gone, that she would never see him again! That he was...
Her hands were shaking as she stood there in moral conflict. Why couldn't she be angry. She should be angry. But all she wanted was to hear him say that name again. Say her name again.
But she could be poised, at least temporarily. It was a noticeable stretch, and he would likely be able to read her like a book, but she didn't want him to see her cry. ]
I didn't know--we didn't know what happened to you! You just... disappeared from all of our lives. We thought you were...
You're the worst, Zidane.
[ Voice, please don't give out on her. ]
[B] aquamarine
[ He's about to answer - he's looking around himself - when he realises he recognises that voice. ]
Garnet..?
Garnet, you're here too! [ He sounds overjoyed, but...he's too well mannered, even now, to just tackle her in a hug. He's still dressed in the same clothes he always wears; he's too attached to them to want to change them. ] I can't believe I didn't see you before!
[ He sounds slightly teary, but can you even blame him at this point. He's just really happy okay.... ]
:D!
Vivi!
[ Her expression notably brightens, and she crouches down to his level. Politeness would rule the day, however; no hugs yet. There were other pressing matters to deal with first. ]
What are you doing here?
[ She could surmise a few reasons why the heart might bring him to Waverly Bay, but even still, it felt cruel. He should be allowed to have a simple, carefree life after everything they--he--went through.
...Okay, it was too much to just sit there and ask questions. It was time to hug a tiny black mage. ]
I'm so glad to see you.
