TEST DRIVE MEME
Hello and welcome to the COSMOGRAPHIA TEST DRIVE MEME! This is a place where you can get a feel for your character(s) in the game's setting! A couple quick points before we get down to business:
☆ Please take a look at our Premise, World Information, and our FAQ to get a feel for the rules and setting. This is great if you want to see what the game is about before jumping in!
☆ Test Drive threads are certainly allowed to be used for samples for your application, should you choose to submit one!
SAMPLE SCENARIOS:
A: By whatever means, you've tumbled through a hole into a cavernous temple. Gems suspended in bubbles float about the ceiling, and a large Heartlike gem looms before you. Touching it, whether out of curiosity or frustration, will give you some basic information, but then again, there's no guarantee you're just going to walk up to a giant weird thing in the middle of a giant weird room and touch it, right? Why not take a look around and see for yourself what kind of place this is? Perhaps you'll run into someone in the same predicament as you, or perhaps you'll run into someone who can help explain why there's a weird rock now affixed to your body?
B: It's Thursday in Waverly Bay, and that can mean only one thing: the weekly Farmer's Market is here again! Stalls not only from farmers on the outskirts of town but from crafty residents with interesting homemade items to sell, and businesses looking to attract the Market's crowd are all here! Are you shopping for a good deal on vegetables for dinner? Or perhaps you're getting a feel for the residents, having recently arrived? Or, perhaps, are you an industrious gem who's looking to set up shop? Either way, you're bound to run into somebody in this bustling, busy place.
C: Uh-oh! Looks like you've run into a monster! Apparently, from what little you've heard, you can shapeshift into things and pull a weapon from your gem, and you have some sort of special power, but maybe you don't know what it is yet, or you're still not used to using it? Guess you're going to have to learn on the job. Don't leave your fellow gems hanging if you see them fighting one of these little guys either! You're going to need each other to take 'em down!

Ichimatsu | Osomatsu-san
[Outwardly, Ichimatsu's arrival in the temple seems pretty quiet. He lands on the hard ground with an unceremonious whump, gets up and looks around with the vaguest expression of confusion, and starts making his way sluggishly through the area in search of an exit.
Internally, it's a whole other story. What the hell is this?? Why is it so gaudy? It's like Karamatsu decorated this place, ugh. Floating gemstones in bubbles? Really? Where the hell are his brothers? Last he knew they were all together before someone pushed him over and he fell down this unexpected hole. What's a place like this even doing underneath the city?? What a pain in the ass...
Ichimatsu looks up as he comes to the large heart gem. Huh. He automatically reaches out to touch it without thinking - and he's certainly not expecting the infodump because he instantly bristles like a spooked cat.
Quite literally, considering the cat ears and tail that suddenly pop into existence, all poofed up and everything.]
What the hell...?
[B]
[This Thursday, Ichimatsu is actually making an appearance at the market. It's not for long, though - he makes his way through the crowd to the stall of a local fisherman, makes a purchase through a few short grunts of "that," "yeah," and "thanks," then slips back off into town.
You may come across him shortly afterwards, however, if you're in the right place. The right place being the alley behind the pizza place, where he's crouched by the dumpster, feeding fresh fish to a small mob of stray cats. And actually smiling a little, for once.]
A
Right away, Karamatsu trots into view, his eyes widening when he spots Ichimatsu near the strange crystal heart that he just left not only a few moments ago.]
Brother! I was wondering where the rest of you had gone!
[THE MAN OF THE HOUR HAS ARRIVED.]
no subject
Please tell him the rest are on their way too. He can handle that. But the thought of being stuck here with just Karamatsu...
The cat ears and tail vanish just as quickly as they'd appeared as Ichimatsu turns around - it'd be alarming to most anyone else but nope this is business as usual for them.]
Mm. Karamatsu. No one else...?
[He's fumbling around with his hand as he speaks, patting himself down as if searching for something. The hand stops on his chest, just over the emblem on his hoodie - yeah, there's something hard under his shirt there all right, and he subconsciously grips at it.]
no subject
[He saw that strange hole in the wall when they were on their way home from the bathhouse, and for some reason felt compelled to go to it. He could have sworn the others saw it too. Ichimatsu did, right?
Then again, Karmatsu frequently forgets (or conveniently ignores) the fact that his brothers generally don't pay much attention to the things he does.
...but anyway.]
I fell into this place just a few minutes ago.
no subject
[But that annoyed sound is all Ichimatsu's giving him at the moment. Of course they weren't following him!! How does he continue to think things like that when it's so obvious??
But he nods to Karamatsu's second statement... then grabs his brother and shoves him towards the heart. Touch the big stone, idiot.]
1/2
[Karamatsu is cut off by the sheer overload of information that the heart dumps into him, so much sothat he actually keeps his mouth shut for a moment or two.
Eventually he pulls back, drawing a hand up to rest against the side of his head.]
That's...
no subject
[That's it.]
no subject
...but Karamatsu is probably going to get all caught up in the drama of it, isn't he. Ugh. Just the thought is painful, and he hasn't even busted out any of those awful lines yet.
Ichimatsu gives a short, quiet huff of a sigh. Well, okay. If they're really the only two of them here... he had to admit it, the last thing he could handle was being in an entirely alien dimension with no one he knows around. It's not like making friends is exactly his forte, and sure, Karamatsu's painfulness would probably botch any chance he had of getting to know someone that he didn't ruin on his own, but... at least that's one person he can stick to.
Until like. Jyushimatsu shows up or something. For the love of god please let Jyushimatsu show up.]
So... what should we do?
[It's a muttered question, half to himself. He's not sure he really wants to hear Kara's answer... but he's still listening.]
no subject
[Karamatsu exclaims quite suddenly, propping his foot up on the nearest rock so he can rest his elbow onto his knee, pulling off his sunglasses with a flourish for emphasis. All of this happens in one swift motion that promises an eyeroll-worthy speech.]
You and I have been chosen to come to this new world to protect it from those who might seek to do it harm! It is our responsibility to uphold!
[He places a hand on his chest over the gem that's hidden beneath his tanktop, and even though he's put on a grandiose air, feeling the sudden hardness beneath his fingertips has him going a bit tense for a moment.]
Fate has plans where I did not, it would seem!
no subject
Ahhhh, just shut up already! Oh...
[He doesn't miss the way Karamatsu's hand tightens momentarily on his chest, or the brief fault in his expression. Ichimatsu tugs at the collar of his own hoodie, glancing down it to his chest. Yeah that's. A purple rock embedded in his flesh all right. Yikes.]
...is it the same?
no subject
Yeah, that...that isn't supposed to be there.]
Ah...it is.
[Of course they'd have the same gem placement. Who else but identical twins?]
But it's just a minor change! I'm almost disappointed you can't see it...I've never seen such a beautiful stone before.
[...God, if Osomatsu were here, he'd probably try to rip it off and pawn it for money.]
no subject
Gross. And it's supposed to give us powers...
[Was that even worth it? Ichimatsu can't even imagine what he'd use superpowers for.]
no subject
[Good lord, just look at that gleam in his eye.]
Don't you see what this means? We're meant to be heroes, Ichimatsu! Radiant in all of our strength and passion, bringing hope to the weak and less fortunate!
[Implying that they are at all fortunate, though.]
no subject
I don't want to be a hero!
[As if garbage like him could be a hero-!]
Ah, what good are powers, anyway?
[Would anyone even like him if he tried?]
no subject
[He's just going to cross the gap separating them both before putting his hands on Ichimatsu's shoulders, as if the gesture will get his point (and excitement) across.]

[A] Ugh I keep wanting to throw someone at Ichi...GONNA DO IT...
[The question isn't harsh or reproachful, it's light and inquisitive - so it's not reacting to your swear, Ichimatsu. There's a young lady looking into the heart room, squinting a bit, unsure if she's really seeing those feline features you're sporting.]
Can I help you?
YES GOOD now hopefully I don't fail
For what is probably way too many seconds. Way too many. Overly-long gag too many. Welcome to awkwardtown, Jane.]
Ah... mm.
[And finally glancing away, settling his expression back into that dead-eyed mask before chancing to look back at her.]
Probably not.
[...says the guy who actually has a million questions and feels utterly lost in spite of the infodump. Because, seriously, what the hell was that? Is that even the truth or just some weird prank?]
Re: YES GOOD now hopefully I don't fail
She tilts her head a bit at his answer, smiling a little in disbelief.] Well, I don't know about that. From the looks of things, you seem like you need some.

[He crams his hands into his hoodie pockets, turning away completely, but not leaving. Where the hell ARE his brothers?? At least if they were here he wouldn't have to say anything; he could just stand off to the side and watch! She's just a teenage girl, but he knows he's going to make an idiot of himself anyway! Well, any of them would, but at least he wouldn't have attention on him if they were here!
It takes a moment, but he at least gathers himself enough to speak again.]
What it said... is that true?
no subject
Oh - the Heart Gem? So you've touched it - ah, yes, it's all true, I'm afraid. Extremely strange, but very true.
A
*...Okay, so now there's a floating, 45cm... something or other. Sounds like a little girl, but the way she's dressed makes her look very, very... strawberryish. Plus there's the berry pink bubbles bobbing behind her, and she's regarding you with remarkably little surprise given the whole situation.*
no subject
Ah... shapeshifting...?
[He reaches up, scratching at the ears, which twitch a bit before folding back down and away.]
S'normal.
[It's a visual gag, of course. Nothing weird about that at all!]
no subject
Anyway, I'm Ichigo! ♪ I'm guessing you're new here?
no subject
More importantly, is her name really just "strawberry!?" How unoriginal is that?? Easy to remember, though...
But he nods, looking a little uncomfortable as he stuffs his hands into his pockets, glancing away to stare at nothing on the other side of the room.]
...Ichimatsu.
[...crap, their names start the same, don't they. He probably looks like a total weirdo now. At least it was inevitable.]
Ah, you're probably already thinking I'm trash, aren't you? That's okay, it's true, after all.
