TEST DRIVE MEME
Welcome to the Cosmographia Test Drive Meme!

This is a place for you to test out any characters you've been considering for the game or just to splash around in the waters and see what's right for you.

Give our infopages a glance over and use the prompts below as a jumping off point!

Threads from prompt A and B can be made canon for the game so long as both parties agree to it! Prompts C and D, unfortunately, cannot, as they take their cues from events and Excursions already run in Cosmographia.

In short - pick a character, write up a starter and have a blast!

PROMPT A - ARRIVAL
You don't remember getting in this hole but you definitely remember falling out of it.

You go tumbling out into the heart of a cavernous temple. Sparkling Gems suspended in bubbles float lazily about the ceiling, just a little out of reach. There's a greenish glow cast over the room by the huge crystal looming before you in the center. It's... curiously heart shaped, now you think to take a closer look at it.

If you're curious enough to touch it, you'll get some basic answers about your situation... but then again, there's no guarantee you're just going to walk up to a giant weird thing in the middle of a giant weird room and touch it, right? Why not take a look around and see for yourself what kind of place this is? Perhaps you'll run into someone in the same predicament as you, or perhaps you'll run into someone who can help explain why there's a weird rock now affixed to your body?
PROMPT B - THE FARMER'S MARKET
It's Thursday in Waverly Bay, and that can mean only one thing: the weekly Farmer's Market is here again!

The town plaza is all abuzz with activity today. Stalls not only from farmers on the outskirts of town but from crafty residents with interesting homemade items to sell, and businesses looking to attract the Market's crowd are all here! The weather's a little chilly but it's still an excellent place to spend the day, so long as you've got some money to spend. Are you shopping for a good deal on vegetables for dinner? Or perhaps you're getting a feel for the residents, having recently arrived? Or, perhaps, are you an industrious gem who's looking to set up shop? Either way, you're bound to run into somebody in this bustling, busy place.

PROMPT C - INVESTIGATION
Now that you're starting to get a hold of your powers, you've been sent through the warp pads on some kind of mission to the Gem Observatory. From the sounds of things, there's an ancient relic here somewhere that could serve useful for the Gems in the Temple and someone has to go out and find it.

... the only problem is that you're not exactly sure where you should start looking in this place. And on top of that, it's a complete mess. Junk and debris and books and papers everywhere with no clue where this relic could be. You're going to have to do some serious digging to find this thing.

And on top of that, you might find that when you try to go back the warp pad you took here has managed to stop working in between your arrival and now. Maybe something went wrong back in the control room? Or the pad itself needs fixing? You'll have to poke around in the guts of the machine to try and figure this one out.
PROMPT D - COMBAT
Uh-oh! Looks like you've run into a monster! These critters can pop up anywhere around Waverly Bay so it doesn't really matter where you were before or what you were up to. All you know now is that you need to buckle down and beat this thing!
Giant Mothwing - With broad wings that shed scales on the wind, this corrupted Gem bears a striking resemblance to a large moth or butterfly. The body between its wings is no beauty, though - it usually stays rolled into a wheel-like spiral to protect its flat, pinkish gem, but when it uncurls to attack it looks more like a worm with teeth. Yikes!

Loud noises make it lash out in agitation. Even when it's not attacking, it flies around restlessly, shedding sharp, glasslike scales that can leave nasty cuts as they whiz past. It'll be hard to get close to it unless it's lured down out of the sky.

Chameleoid - The shape of this monster's body is more like a tardigrade than a lizard, but its camouflage ability and long, sticky tongue are worth commemorating. The Chameleoid can flatten and expand its body, and change the color and texture of its outer hide to blend in seamlessly with its surroundings, and it uses this ability to duck in and out of battle. Keep an eye out for suspicious movement when it vanishes from view.

The Chameleoid shoots out its 20-foot-long tongue to disarm, trip up, and gross out Gems, but it's not averse to eating any small objects it might grab. The inside of its mouth looks softer than the rest of it, so maybe you can turn that to your advantage...?

Strawberry Spider - Though its long, spindly legs holding it off the ground make it look like a spider, this monster is actually mostly made up of plant material. Trees and strawberry plants are rooted in the corrupted Gem's featureless, geometric body, forming woody legs and blanketing the monster in foliage and strawberries.

Its aroma may be sweet, but the Strawberry Spider is ruthless and very, very perturbed. It stands 15 feet tall and 25 feet wide, and its skittering feet move fast to stomp on attacking Gems. Thinking of cutting off a leg? Try it, and hundreds of strawberry runners will immediately sprout from the stump to ensnare you. The strawberries are hungry, and they've got a "taste for blood"...

Damaging the plants living on it won't actually hurt the corrupted Gem, and they grow back fast. This will be a tough monster to defeat.

Wildcard Option - Make your own!
You know by now that you've got some special powers just from being a Gem. Apparently, from what little you've heard, you can shapeshift into things and pull a weapon from your gem, and you have some sort of unique special power. But maybe you don't know what it is yet, or you're still not used to using it? Guess you're going to have to learn on the job. Don't leave your fellow gems hanging if you see them fighting one of these little guys either! You're going to need each other to take 'em down!
PROMPT E - WILDCARD
Not into any of these prompts? Thought of something more fun? Go for it!

Perry the Platypus | Phineas & Ferb [CRAU]

[personal profile] ttlynotanagent 2016-08-27 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
C - INVESTIGATE
[He was used to missions, though usually they were more about stopping a certain evil scientist and not a fetch quest. But, all the same, he'd volunteered because what ELSE was a displaced secret agent going to do?

Perry arrives and hops off the warp pad, looking around with a scowl. This wasn't exactly what he had in mind; it was a wreck! Perry hadn't seen a disorganized mess this bad before, and he lived with two kids! He sighed and mimed rolling up nonexistence sleeves -- best to get to work. Perry waddles over to the nearest pile and starts tossing things around. He gets pretty focused, so he might accidentally hit someone if he's not careful.
]

D - Combat
[The small semi-aquatic mammal slammed into the cliff side, causing his hat to fall off. He made a grunting noise when he hit, but didn't react in time when the Chameleoid's tongue shot out and snatched up his hat, the fedora disappearing into his mouth. Perry looked disgusted, sticking his own tongue out. That was his favorite (and only) fedora here! Perry pushed himself back up onto his feet, now it was personal! He started running for the Chameleoid again, but pulled up short when it vanished into thin air. Perry blinked and looked around, but there was no sign of it.

Huh...that was weird.

Perry is then suddenly hit again, but this time he reacts and does a flip in the air, slashing his beaver-like tail at what looks like nothing but is apparently the Chameleoid because it flickers back into view for a split second. Perry's foot gets caught by its tongue though and the creature tosses him up into the air. He twists to prepare his landing and notices the Chameleoid has disappeared again. Perry lands on the ground in a crouch, scanning the area. Now where did it go? He needed that hat back!

Looks like you need some help!

[The voice comes from... a small flying... robot? It looked capable of dealing damage but it was made of plastic.

Despite this, it pulled out a tiny rifle and exclaimed,]
If they're cloaked, then kick up some dust!

[Firing a continuous blast in a circle, a cloud of dust was kicked up around them, and from the angle outwards, it would be kicked up in the hopeful direction of the Chameleoid's position to reveal itself as the dust would curl around its frame.]

[Perry blinked at the robot. To be honest it was far from the strangest thing he had seen...especially lately. However it was still unexpected.

Perry's surprise quickly turned into a look of pleasure. The robot did make a great point though. The small platypus winced and raised up his arm as the dust was kicked up (or in this case shot up) into the air. As the dust started to move, Perry scanned the area with narrowed eyes.

He pointed, emphatically and then sprung into action and if he could have yelled 'THERE!' Perry landed on top of what looked like thin air but was clearly the monster he'd been facing. The creature roared and started trying to buck Perry off.

Hey, what was that about help now?

[The pilot of the Gundam was watching through the SD's cockpit, and Fumina smirked as she selected her weapon loadout. The gun locked in a blade as a green energy blade appeared at the front of it.

Zooming at high speed, Star Winning slashed cross-wise in a large arc, cutting across the front of the invisible monster to drive it into view.]

Jump off! [Yelled Star Winning as the blade ejected and she fired a blast towards the center of the enemy.]

[Perry didn't have to be told twice. He sommersaults off the monster, but not before also landing a mighty blow with his tail against the monster's cheek. The monster is slapped so hard it spits out a brown fedora and Perry snatches it out of the air.

All before he lands, because it wouldn't be cool otherwise. He smacks the hat a few times to get the drool off of it, but turns around to see the light show.

[The blast impacted and the monster flickered into view. Fumina let out a grossed out noise.]

Geez it's uglier on the outside! Ready to finish it off? We need to bubble it.
ttlynotanagent: (Just Add Theme Music)

[personal profile] ttlynotanagent 2016-08-28 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
[Yeah. But they had to get it back to being a gem before that can happen. Perry has his hat back though and he cracks his knuckles to show he's ready.

The monster was not going to make it easy though and it growled, whipping it's long tongue out at Perry. The platypus dodged and then knocked the tongue away with his fist. It was going to take some doing, but he was pretty sure they could handle this with team work.

[personal profile] winningroad 2016-08-28 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
[Yes, definitely. Teamwork was the key, and Star Winning burst around to the side, firing beams into the monster. It growled and swiped at the small enemy but Fumina had better reflexes than being caught.]

Feisty thing ain't you?
ttlynotanagent: (Punch It)

[personal profile] ttlynotanagent 2016-08-29 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[Perry decided their best bet was to confuse the thing and then maybe get a good shot in to poof it. Since the robot was shooting up the left side, he'd take the right. Perry throws a kick at the beast's leg, aiming for the knees. The beast goes down as its leg is injured and howls, shifting attention from the robot and back to the pest by his legs.

A few more hits should do it, Perry predicts.

[Fumina was coming to the same conclusion since Perry's attacks seemed to be doing well against it. She locked in her rifle and fired several more shots into the other leg, aiming to knock it down.]

[personal profile] ttlynotanagent 2016-08-27 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
[Whoa what?!

Perry blinks when suddenly there's a corgi. His brows furrow -- wondering where this guy just came from. He glances over his shoulder at the warp; he hadn't heard it at all.

Perry softens a little and nods. Sure, you can help him dig.

[personal profile] ttlynotanagent 2016-08-27 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
[Perry gives the dog his space and goes back to hunting on his own. Hey, if a platypus can be here then so can a corgi.

He can't seem to find what he's looking for, but he does pull out a tennis ball. Perry smirks and turns back to the corgi, holding the ball up for him to see.

[Yes. Yes it is.

Perry bounces the ball once. Twice. And then he lobs it. Perry apparently has quite the arm.

[Perry had enough time to sift through a few things but the corgi was back a lot sooner than he had expected.

...

Right, the flaw in his plan. This was seriously going to interfere with his plans to find the relic if he had to keep throwing the ball. He sighs and picks up the ball again. He'll need to think of something...but for now the ball gets thrown again.

[Twice in a row. Perry is not surprised. He rubs the dog's tummy as requested.

Good boy?

Yes. Corgi is a Good Boy. The Best Boy.

He also has a suspiciously smooth, rock-like patch on his tummy. Almost like a gem.

[If Perry is surprised to find the Corgi is a gem as well, he doesn't show it. He's a platypus, who is he to judge?

He's careful not to touch the gem though
