[She takes her hand, and they just seem to naturally fall together. There's a distant piano somewhere, and she's happy just whirling around the floor with Twilight.]

Did they teach dancing at Crystal Prep?

Of course. They made everybody take ballroom for a semester at least.

[ Twilight's quite good at it, actually. It appears to be one of the only physical activities she has any interest in. She twirls Sunset and catches her again softly. ]

Never had anyone I really wanted to dance with, though. [ ... before. ]

I can understand that...though for a while there after, nobody wanted to dance with me either.

[This is Twilight's time to lead. Sunset manages to fall into this with a surprising amount of grace.]

But it's not bad at all with you.

[And, predictably, there's a very faint glow starting to shine through her shirt.]

Not a bit. I really like this.

[ Even more than she usually likes dancing. Her face is glowing. Her whole body is, in fact -- slowly being bathed in a bright white light, just like Sunset's... ]

...know what? Me too. More than ever.

[Oh, she's danced before, but this time it feels just right. She laughs and twirls in, face to face, foreheads touching...

and before she knows it the magic happens, transforming them into them.]

...that fast?

[ It takes the new fusion several moments to figure out what's happened. Half of her knew that it was a possibility; half of her couldn't even have imagined the possibility. The tall woman feels her face with two of her four arms (the others hanging limply at her side, Twinset almost unaware that she has them).

Two pony ears wiggle at the top of her head. Two human ears wiggle at the side of it. Her hearing, appropriately, seems to be enhanced. ]

Sunset? [ Panicking a little, she calls half of her own name. Her friend's name. It's the only thing she can think to anchor her to this strange sensation right now, and the unfamiliar thoughts filling her head. ]

[Slowly she comes alive. The shock of that's wearing off a bit, and she's not entirely surprised to discover their weirder features.]

Right here. Part of you. This is...well, this is what 'us' is, so the experiment's a success.

[ She feels her lips move, hears a voice that's half her and half Sunset, and now she understands where the thoughts are coming from. Thoughts, emotions... everything. ]

We're... together? [ She looks at her hands, and they're a red halfway between the fire of Sunset's hair and the streak of Twilight's. Her ears swivel a little at the slightest sensation. ]

This is strange... [ She's not panicking, though. Not yet. Hesitant, wobbly, she slowly rises to her feet. ]

Yeah, this is what happens when compatible Gems dance. We're...something more than the sum of our parts. Stronger.

[She rubs those new arms. Whoa. She can also feel the powerful magic running through this body---it excites her, but she needs to stay calm about it for Twilight's sake.]

[ Twilight picks up the excitement. She looks at their hand.

Raises it -- a blast of magic fires, blowing a hole through a nearby wall. She stares at it in shock. ]

What... am I? Are we?

We're a single element of magic, apparently!

[Whoa, that's a lot of magic.]

It's a lot of power. A little scary, but...I think we can take it.
