[Any sort of witty retort or follow-up strategy that Rick can deliver is immediately cut off by that punch to the throat, and it causes Rick to raise his chin up in to the air, and a whole slew of mumbled curses are released from his mouth.

But it also invigorates him. And within the moment of reaction time he has - despite the pain or the risk of a follow-up, Rick lets his labcoat slide off and land on the floor. There's no time to remove his shirt, and no time to make sure it lands neatly. He has a goddamn score to settle.

Which is why he aims to fight far more dirty than Mr. Stanfart here and try to clasp one hand around Ford's throat. It's a messy strategy, but honestly, Rick could give absolutely no shits right now, especially when his other hand comes up to try punching Ford again - regardless of whether the choke connects or not.]

[He hadn't expected Rick to recover from the blow to the throat quite so quickly - he underestimated just how capable the wiry bastard could be in a fight. It's not a mistake he plans to make a second time.]

[Assuming, of course, that he gets a second time - Because Rick recovers more quickly than he expected, he manages to catch him off guard and take hold of his throat, which will spell nothing but trouble for him if he can't break his grip soon.]

[Of course, that would be easier to focus on if he didn't also have to worry about that fist flying for his face. He can't dodge it - not when he's being held in place - so he does the next best thing.]

[He ducks his head and angles it so that Rick's fist will connect, not with his face, but the side of his head - and more importantly, the metal plate protecting his skull.]

[That punch is going to hurt Rick a lot more than it hurts him.]

[Well, that works out well enough. When Rick's hand connects with Ford's skull, his eyes shoot open and he draws his hand - both his hands - back away from Pines. One hand goes to clutching the other, and he bites his lips and lets out a shitton of air.]

FUCK! Shit-piss-fucking-Terminator-ass-skull-bitch!

[He's cringes, and his hand-holding only serves to leave him open.]

[Excellent. Ford's scalp is going to be bruised for weeks, but the pain is definitely worth the price for the opening he's given. While Rick is reeling from the backfired punch, Ford takes his chances and charges him, intent on throwing his full body weight into him so that he can force him to the ground.]

[Considering the weight differences between them, that part shouldn't be too difficult, but Rick is a squirrely bastard. Knocking him down won't be nearly as difficult as keeping him pinned might be.]

[Of course, there's no defense against that and Rick is quick to get forced down by Ford, tumbling back on to the ground and hitting it with a hard thump.]

G-get the fuck off me, you sonuva - [Poof. That's spit. Rick just spit at you, Ford.]

[Ford doesn't know why he's surprised when he feels spittle hit his face and splatter over the right lens of his glasses. Considering who he's dealing with, he really ought to have expected it.]

[Rather than give Rick time to weasel out from under him by taking the time to wipe it off, however, he simply ignores the slime and keeps himself focused on the task at hand. Namely, getting a knee on Rick's chest and trying to get those hands pinned down before Rick can use them to strangle the life out of him again.]

[A task much easier said than done.]
